Ghum is not worth talking about anyway. That's the worst I have seen in ITV. The absolute worst. I understand what you are saying. Isn't that how villains work? We cannot justify their acts but we do end up sympathizing them for a minute or two. If you have watched Ratsasan, you'll know Christopher was sick and absolutely unforgivable but when they get into the backstory and show how he was bullied... it's hard not to feel bad for him.
Agreed. It infuriates me that such a show has been ruling the TRP chart for so long.
As for Rono, I wouldn't really justify his actions by comparing him to a villain. I get your point though. It's the same reason in a lot of shows I have been able to sympathize with the antagonists.
But where I find Rono different is unlike his ITV counterpart, he didn't have a skewed moral compass that only served his benefit. Sure, coming from a traditional old-fashioned family he had some reservations and was stubborn but he changed gradually. And he acknowledged his mistakes to both Rupkotha (SIL) and Emon (Wife). So after a certain point, I started feeling bad for him because everyone conveniently blamed him since he was an introvert and wouldn't express his emotions that openly but despite proving his innocence over and over again, he just never had it easy. So in the very last portion, he gave up and started living alone.
And I kind of get Emon too. A dutiful person who's prioritizing everyone and is busy saving their lives at his own expense - such people can't be the ideal partner that a normal person girl dreams to have.
I am yet to watch the previous episodes so not sure what kind of equation they showed when it comes to Dhruv and Ayesha but even without that, I think the promise was stupid. It makes no sense to me. Of course, you have a point there. We can consider that it was Dhruv who gave hope to Ayesha by promising her not to love/marry anyone, leading her to marry Jay so that she could stay around Dhruv.
That's the issue here - they showed nothing. They simply showed Ayesha proposing to Dhruv and when he denied it, she asked him what type of platonic relationship includes looking after a girl over a decade? Dhruv had no answer for that.
From what I have seen, it doesn't look like Dhruv really loved her that way. But if that's the case, he should have firmly addressed that he really considered her as a friend and platonic friendships can be as strong as romantic ones.
He kept mum, gave his excuses regarding Jay, and said, I know how much it has hurt your heart so even I wouldn't permit myself to be happy. I'll be single forever.
That's what I meant by giving false hope. Dhruv might not have used the exact words "Dard Ka Rishta" but he very well started this crap.
From those two scenes that I have watched - the promise and then the dard ka rishta one - I don’t think he ever had any romantic feelings for Ayesha. Ah, honestly, I have forgotten the stupid promise made because otherwise I won't be able to watch.
So I enjoy watching him dismissing Ayesha because that's right in my opinion. The whole dard ka rishta thing is as lame as Dhruv's promise.
I understand that logic because otherwise, it's impossible to root for him as a character.
This sounds interesting. I might try to watch. Thanks for the details. I appreciate them.
You are welcome. 😊
It did have its share of toxicity but overall when it came to the lead couple, theirs was a beautiful story.
Do try to watch it if you are free. It's available on Hotstar.
Yeah, I didn't even know any such show existed. The first and last I watched from Star Bharat was Kalbhairav Rahasya
I have heard a lot of praise about that show. But I'm not into thrillers so...
