I don't think she is Leela though, Leela was more daring, more sexually liberated character. She knows what she wants and goes after it without any reservations, shame or guilt. Leela was not afraid to love like Meerab is. Leela would even love her man even if he crossed the line but can Meerab. Meerab lives by a strong code, she will not cross it and neither will she let Murtasim cross it.
Meerab I think is like Elizabeth from P&P. She is detached, practical, prudish, doesn't think she needs a man, she is repressed by society expectations of her gender, she wants to fight the system but can't.
Lizzie was prejudiced against Darcy, the way Meerab misunderstands Murtasim. And both women would only love the men they admire, they had immense self respect they would never settle for a lesser man.
