You know what the reality is about most of these top surgeons in India?

They work with like a contingent of 50 doctor's...they just come in at the actual juncture...the prep, initial setup & post surgery processes are done by their subordinates...so a top heart surgeon can actually do 2 critical surgeries in a span of 4 hours if in the right head space and everything goes well at each of the surgeries. And they actually do that, multiple critical surgeries in a day. They space based on complexity of blockages etc too.

But their waiting list is hugeeee....people book from months in advance...some of them have Padma Bhushan and Padma Shris and very decorated recognitions 🙂

To be a top Cardiologist or Heart Surgeon is actually that big a honour in India...Google and you'll find that anyone with a 30+ years experience would have done about 50k-100k heart surgeries in their lifetime.

For a curious individual check out Episode 4 of the documentary Surgeon's Cut on Netflix...it is on a very interesting successful Indian Surgeon who has 25 hospitals and 110 clinics in India and operates on rich and poor!

The waiting list for my dad’s cardiologist used to be around a year because he was a friend he would squeeze us in at 11 pm or 12 am sometimes or very early in the morning.

Aishu I have had two surgeries in cd to remove tumours they warned me not to fall sick before the first operation or else I would have to wait for at least 9 months

the first time which was the crucial one the main dr didn’t do it he just supervised and the inexperienced assistant did it I got to know of it only later but it was too late by then

I was very angry about it. It still bothers me on some days.
