But this is so weird, the person u look up to as brother u suddenly marring him. 🤢

Yes in south v have the tradition of buas son or daughter can get married to mamas daughter or son. In majority of the cases they don’t grow up as siblings.
In bhagavatham we have lord Krishna getting married to his buas daughters Bhadra & mitravinda. Arjunan and Subhadra were also first cousins

I think they have saved this track of Jasleen being not real daughter for future use if required.

Yes Bebe did looked horrified.

Jas could be negative even by being the real daughter. May be she felt her father preferred the sons to handle the business than his daughter. From the various conversation, it seems Inder did not want to follow into family business but Jas did. May be her chosen marriage and following divorce, made Darji doubt her being suitable candidate for business head. As Manbir mentioned it must have made her bitter. In real life too there are people who try to create issues between couples just coz their marriage or love failed.

I believe that tradition of getting the brother's daughter married to the sister's son was a strategic move of the ancestors to keep the wealth in the family itself.

In some South Indian state the uncle married the niece. In villages those customs are followed even now, especially among less educated.

They kind of grow up knowing they belong to each other, coz from a young age they are teased by the families as couples. One of my friends married her cousin, who is much older than her. Yet she always had a crush on him coz of this custom.

@ bold some people do this if I am not happy I will let others lead happy life too.
Not only Jassi but Prabhjyot too seems a bit miffed with Dadaji regarding the patriarchal thoughts in business. We can see Prabhjyot siding with Jassi in initial episodes ‘Jassi di Kadvi bolte hai par sach bolte hai’

In GC they showed that Paromita ( Jasleen) was actually the Singharoys' estate manager's daughter. And because Dadu (Daarji) was very friendly with him, he adopted his daughter as his own after his untimely death. So Dadu & Thammi brought up Paro as their own daughter but everyone knew that she's not a Singharoy by blood. And Manjira (Manbeer) used to poke her and keep reminding her about it at every chance she got. In GC they actually blamed Rahul's (Garry's) character a lot on Manjira's taunts towards his mother. Same for Kiara. And apparently there was another sister, Mishka, who had fallen in love with Riddhi / wanted to marry him or something and the Singharoys ousted her too. That also gave them the impression that the Singharoys consider them beneath themselves. Though I think at this point GC has completely forgotten about that sister 😆 But yeah! They had put in enough reasons for Paro & her kids to hold grudges towards the Singharoys.

Also, in GC, Paro had married a middle class guy, couldn't handle middle class life and came back to Singharoy house with her kids and probably wanted them to support her in her divorce. But nobody did. She's still shown as married woman (and very recently patched up with her husband too). Because Singharoy family is very cultural and follow old traditions by heart. So they regard Gaantchora as this pavitra bandhan that can never ever be broken. That's precisely why the lead couples never got divorced even though all the marriages happened by accident

Uh huh🤔

Yaha to they have mentioned divorce so many times, logically speaking, there cannot be any reconciliation at this point... but well itv hai, so who knows 🤷‍♂️

Also, here have they shown Manbeer taunting Garry? I usually watch only Sahan and Veerat scenes, unless the family scene are particularly interesting.

And, slightly off topic, but Gaantchora is like Gathbandhan?

No they have not shown Manbir taunting Garry but one thing I noticed is she is not that affectionate to Garry or Kiara like she is with veer or Ekam

Yes. Gaantchora is the Bengali word for Gathbandhan. The Bengali show's name itself is Gaantchora so wahan baat baat pe this Gaantchora cannot be broken wala dialogue maar dete hai 😆 Their title song lyrics actually means that everything was pre-decided as if your and mine Gaantchora was already tied (by the almighty)😳 So there is a lot of overdose of "Gaantchora" there.

I guess that's another reason why they changed the marriage sequence and made Sahiba reveal everything before the marriage itself. Because yahan toh next din hi divorce ho jata 😆 They cannot blame it on family tradition here because they are Sikh and concept like Gathbandhan doesn't hold any significance to them. So here they made it Daarji's order.

I cannot say for sure since I have not watched all the episodes, but I think Manbir, even if hadn't taunted Garry directly yet, doesn't like Garry at all. There was this scene in Daarji Bebe's Anniversary party track where Manbir chooses clothes for Angad and Garry jaan bujhke woh kapde khud pehen leta hai. Angad didn't mind but Manbir was fuming. Gurleen says it's strange how Garry always likes to claim / use the things which are meant for Angad and Manbir was super pissed. She said something she wouldn't let this happen when Angad chooses his bride. But well.....we know how much she succeeded 😆
