Gadar (2001) was a biiiig commercial success and this is (like Drishyam 2) a genuine sequel with the same core family (father, mother, son) 22 years later.

As the first Gadar narrated violent incidents happening in 1947 at partition time (Sikh-Muslims), 22 years later, in Gujarat, major violent incidents happened between Hindus and Muslims (with strong repercussions in the future) where political interests (RSS, Congress) were involved.

No idea, if Gadar 2 will have these incidents as a background story, but violence obviously is a subject.
