It was indeed super random. None of the comments I have read so far on something haute have said this is how he truly is. Everyone says it was just done for the dramatic effect and should have never been there in the first place.

Yep it was so out of character for him to slap her before they married given how he has been so respectful and patient with her after that. It now feels very very randomly inserted and this has been such a big complaint of all fans of the show that makes no sense.

Yeah it was a nonsensical and almost random scene. And every fan keeps pointing out that beside that one scene he has proven to be a respectful, patient and protective husband who will not let anybody, not even his own mother questions or disrespect her. Truly a sad scenario. PTV show writers and directors often give interviews about their shows, so I'm interested to look out for any interviews of them being questioned about what on earth they were thinking with that scene.

Siraj ul Haque has done an interview with Fuchsia magazine in case you're interested. I haven't watched it yet.

Yup..both were awesome shows

On surface level it's a simple romantic show but I love the small nuances such as these ..very simple yet very realistic and touching..

Crash landing , I loved it totally.. its a very special show , since its the first I saw ..

Yes, heart touching moments such as she refuses being in love but still he didn't goes on blind date on anyone else when his grandfather forced him to go. Another one his parents accident nightmare linked to rain ..he dropped her stranded on the road but soon he go back to her & apologised to her.

Same goes to her ..she came back to him late night on his accident day when she saw the rain. There are so many moments like this

Won't talk much abt the slap, it was unnecessary and these shows r not meant for the global audience . Patriarchy is deep rooted in our cultures. In india we r moving towards a change but still not there and paki is far behind us. Yeah he slapped her..but I believe what we see on itv is nothing better...emotional abuse , aggression , plotting planning..nothing is normal on itv as well...I like the way he talks to his mom for his wife but at the same time I Hate it that he's not able to keep his creepy cousin at bay ....as a husband he is doing fine though....but this guy murtu , just like abhimanyu , is so volatile that he can't be trusted ..

Frankly there r very few examples of men taking a stand for their wives against their moms, mammas boy I am talking about ..I need to think really hard to look for examples in bollywood coz itv mei aisa koi ma hoga..may be asr for a short while when he was about to marry khushi ..but then again he hurt her so many times that uska example toh nai Banta..

Like in bahubali , this guy stood up for what's right , and not what his mom wished na his own emotions..jo galat hai wo galat hai, one needs courage to speak the truth.

Whether it's tere bin or its ipk, men need to have a certain authority in his family and workplace to have an upper hand ..our patriarchy system and joint family system is fundamentally flawed..till the time girls and boys learn to live indepdently away from the shadow of their parents , this won't change .

When I watch Korean shows , itv and paki shows appear to be from dark ages ..the recent one I saw , this guy had a 2 trillion won company and the girl he chose to marry was one of his employees ..he had to move to the States for his grandfather's treatment n he asks her to move with him telling her that her job won't be affected as their company has a provision to send their workers for research overseas...I was shocked and surprised at the same time to hear it ..I mean he never said why are you working , I am a f loaded guy with trillions in my bank account , and I love you, just come with me...he respected her job ,woh bhi in his own company

Lol it does start to seem that way.

While I agree most desi TV are regressive, there are some that are breaking the stereotypes or at least trying.

Some Pakistani progressive content I have watched and liked:

Ek Hai Nigar

Sinf-e-Aahan

Ehf-e-Wafa

Ghisi Pitti Mohabbat

Parizad

Sang-e-Mah (progressive for a rural area)

Raqeeb Say

Dobara (the theme is progressive, but some characters are annoying)

Progressive male leads:

Nigar's husband in Ek Hai Nigar

Emaad Irfani's character in Cheekh

Saad from Mujhay Pyar Hua Tha

We series:

Rishi from Shitty Ideas Trending

Just Married (Teeli)

What the Folks and Please Find Attached (Dice Media)

These are the ones that came to mind rn.

Murtasim is definitely volatile. I would prefer Saad over him any day for myself or my daughter or sister (you get the gist). However, they do wanna throw in some masala for a TV show, and apart from that slap, I feel they are doing it in a better way with Murtasim than any other volatile male leads.

I have no clue about Bahubali. I don't watch anything in a language I don't understand either, so no Korean or Turkish shows para mi. I can list a ton of TV shows in the Engish language that I enjoy(ed).

But doesn't reading subtitles put too much strain on the eyes and distract from the visuals?

I didn't watch it uptil now for the same reason but it really isn't that stressful.. one is able to read quickly and still watch it ..if therez too much problem , therez an option of switching it to English audio but I still prefer to read the subtitles ..can't understand their language at all, still the voice modulation has a certain affect on the scene which they're enacting ..its a personal choice I mean , I find them really cute but u will have to look for the genre which you prefer ..I saw some romcoms which were abs dreamy and wonderful, I saw love stories which were deep , I saw thrillers which I abs loved ....

I love watching English shows too..I watch everything basically except Indian web shows , unless there r really good recommendations..I got tired with the politics, crime , lust themes..don't wanna watch it at all..plus the shows abs rich and famous ,, abs trash ..I love romance but can't find any meaningful ones there , comedy is good so I watch that In Indian web series.

Oh abt paki shows.. I loved the old ones . Zgh, humsafar , shehwar , yks , pyar ke sadqey, suno chanda , ishq jalebi, anaa , do bol, diyar e dil(my fav) , parizad was also really good , and a lot of this guy shows..feroze khan..khani, ishquia ..

I don't watch Indian content on streaming services either or anything dubbed. If you ever get a chance, watch Chuck. It's a pretty old TV show based on espionage, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I loved ishq jalebi and pyar k sadqay good too, but I haven't watched anything older than 2018. I was when I started Urdu shows.

Absolutely..one more scene in the Disney land , where he remembers his dead parents and she tells him something to which he says whenever I talk abt it ,, ppl talk bk with sympathy, theu don't know what to tell me n thy never Bring it up but I also want to talk abt them sometimes .. ..something like that..I loved it so much ..so so much ..also the scenes you mentioned ..and the way she handles all the office gossip and social media backlash when her friend slanders her n calls her a two timer ..she really isn't affected by it but he is worried that she has to face everything alone..

N the last scene where he requests her to move with him to the States but she refuses as his grandfather wouldn't like it ..2 years or 20 years we're apart doesn't matter but I'll miss u ..adorable it was..thy look sooooo cute together ..the other couple also , were equally good.

Sorry I got carried away as there was nobody to share my excitement with 😆
