I agree to the fact that elder brother in law is equivalent to father in law and ultimately equivalent to father . But in some special conditions which definitely include younger brother's death ...and only if bil is single . Elder bil do marry there younger brother's widow so that her life may not get ruined and she stay in a same household becoz in older tyms ppl were not very welcoming towards widows and widow remarriages were rare n difficult .
If a child is involved .. no family will like to loose a child to another family in which there widow daughter In law will remarry so to keep the child in family and to assure the genuine love for the child ( considering that another family may not treat the child well) .
As a matter of fact remarriages of widow Sil to a younger bil is more common ( high chances of younger bil to be single ) inspite of devar bhabhi bond being equivalent to mother son.
Talking about sali jija angle . It is even more common !! in case of death of an older sister , younger sister is married to widower jijaa . Involvement of child plays a role in this case too . Refer Nadiya k paar , hum apk h kon and bewafa for better details .
All these things were very common in older tyms or present rural areas maybe becoz most of the marriage ka decisions are taken by elders which rarely includes the willingness of a person involved .
We find such examples in itv , bollywood as well as real life .
In arohi abhimanyu case jija sali angle got cancelled coz abhira is divorced . It's only elder bil - sil bond . As long as they both are compatible and ok with the marriage I don't think there is anything wrong in it .
Abhi arohi never considered each other as bro sis ( unlike abhir - kuhu in yrhpk) so it's not really unethical.
