After all the anticipation, excitement and buzz around the series and the pitch (of course), it's a day that has been completely dominated by the hosts. India had to grind it out at the start of the day but roared back in the second session to ensure they bundle Australia out for a minimal total. It was Ravindra Jadeja who stole the show on his comeback with his five-wicket haul.

The Indian openers followed up the good work with a steady partnership at the top of the order. Rohit Sharma played freely as the aggressor to put the visitors under pressure early, also allowing his partner to take his time in the middle. Even with KL Rahul ticking along slowly, India seemed set to go into the end of the day's play with all ten wickets in hand, but a certain debutant had different plans.

With a host of world-class bowlers in the side, it was Todd Murphy who stood out from the rest. The 22-year-old had enough guile and control in the middle, keeping a lid on the scoring rate alongside Lyon after the pacers had leaked runs early on. Murphy managed to give his side something to smile about with the wicket of Rahul close to the end of day's play, perhaps leaving the door open for them to go bang-bang tomorrow morning.

The pitch hasn't been a raging turn by any means. Not yet, anyway. Rohit was classy for his half-century and will want to convert it into a big total tomorrow. With Ashwin alongside him, there is a chance that one of the two could come out all guns blazing to ensure they eat into this Australian lead as quickly as possible.
