I think similar to this or many be more deadliest was Gujarat 2001 Earthquake. It is not widely known coz we didn’t have phone cameras and social media.
Around 20000 dead and 15000 injured and entire Bhuj district buildings collapsed. It was cold January. I lived in Guj at that time.

Turkey earthquake images remind me of 2001. My dad was involved in relief work so we sent home prepared food packages and warm clothes and blankets for people living in tents. Everyday images of rescue workers finding dead bodies in the newspaper.
Horrible horrible time.
May families in Turkey get strength to deal with it.
