One thing i have noticed that writer rarely brings in variety in showing heartbreak of a female character...They will either be vigorously crying for their lost love or will become a statue. The way Saad's heartbreak has been shown,it was pretty well executed and enacted as well. They have brought variety in showing his heartbreak,he was neither crying non stop nor became a statue,he was shown in phases and has been given monologues to understand whats going inside his head. Then why it is that when it comes to fl,you just have to show the typical crying and thats it🤔...The Fl's monologue is necessary as well to understand whats going on inside her head,so that audience can actually connect with the character.
I don’t think we can blame the writers entirely. I think desi audience is also not used to seeing nuanced characteristics in their FL on screen, even if a writer gives them a character which isn’t too good to be true or pure evil, like Maheer.
We are either used to seeing our heroines as becharis mahaan aatmas or evil beyond redemption, another popular category is “strong” fl, which most pakistani writers interpret to mean unnecessarily rude to everyone around them. So even if we see a FL not specifically belonging to any of these categories, we forcefully try to put her in one of these three. Just my opinion. The same audience will watch a Netflix show and admire characters for being “human”, for being confused, for making mistakes. But God Forbid no ITV or PTV FL is allowed to be anything other than either bechari, evil or strong 😆
This goes for all shows btw not just MPHT.
