They were spotted together a year or so ago but denied any involvement and everyone moved on. They at the very least know each other well enough to hang out and go to concerts. The fact that they are trying to fake hide it makes it more suspicious.

Oh after listening this I just googled the show and realized that my mom watch it's Telugu version ( named "prema entha madhuram"). My mom watch Telugu version during my dinner time and it's Female lead's fake sugary sweet voice irritates me like hell. Recently when her character got killed in the show (in Telugu) I felt very happy that I get spared from her voice but alas her look alike entered the show with different name/character and hero falls for her as she looks like his dead wife(yes hero and heroine get married and she got killed sometime after their marriage, then her look alike enters) 😆.Some rebirth story blah blah was also there before she got killed lol.

Acc to google Original is Bengali one.. It is remade into Telugu, kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi versions.. It seems Hindi version is still in nascent stage as the leads are not married yet acc to your scene description😆
