As usual she was awesome yesterday. I stayed up till late to watch the whole concert.

But I have mixed feelings about these solo concerts. Sony seems to have settled on one set of songs and whether it is a solo by Arunita or Pawandeep or Sayli they sing the same songs. More or less. So on the one hand, Arunita is awesome when she sings these Arijit Singh songs at the level of the original or even better. But on the other hand, the overall experience can be so much better if she sings the songs of Lata Mangeshkar or Asha Bhosale or Alla Yagnik or Kavita Krishnamurthy or Shreya Ghoshal. A 2 hour concert like yesterday packed with those songs would be gold!

My personal opinion is that the song selection is limited by the inexperience of the band and the lack of free time to rehearse new songs together. This is not the sort of band that can accompany a sudden choice of a Kavita or Lata or.. song. There are bands that can do that but for whatever reasons it seems that this band is the first choice of these singers. I don't think much will change even after the Sony contract is over, in the short run.

I hope things change. It would be a criminal waste of talent, and extremely unfair to one's own self, to perform at a level below what is one capable of.
