As I read more I came to know about this from many credible sources. Most academics and arts intellectuals had a great free food and parties in Congress rule. Many of these artists and journalists stayed rent free in central Delhi’s govt paid huge houses. Personal gain over public interest works for everyone.

Congress has never portrayed itself as left leaning. It has always been a centrist party. It is the arm chair social media intellectuals who are cooking up this false idea recently. Ask any actual academic or even a university/school going kid they'd tell you that Congress's ideology has always been centrism. In fact the whole non-alignment movement was an extension of this ideology that Nehru so adamantly fought for. Nehru was a staunch anti-nationalist and was often in tiffs with Gandhi, perhaps that's why people label him as left leaning. 🤷‍♀️

The actual left leaning parties in Indian politics has always been CPI-M ( operational in Kerala) and Trinamool in WB. Even at central universities where student politics thrive this demarcation is made. The student wing of CPI-M is SFI which is clearly identified as left leaning. ABVP (BJP student wing) being the right and NSUI (congress student wing) as being centrist. NSUI and SFI never mix. There are others, like ASU (Ambedkar Student union), MFI etc which are not so popular.

Actually you would be surprised, but BJP drove a hard campaign to portray itself as centrist bcos it's right wing ideology was too polarising for educated/university going students/indians. I'd say it worked pretty well for BJP going that route.

I've seen statements like "most men, no exaggeration, beat their wives / kids and break objects at home" amongst other misandrist comments on this forum. Saw this FB post by this school principal who took his life, aur barbas BWF ki yaad aa gayi lol. Mental and physical abuse against men is NOT a myth, at least not in today's day and age.

I shouldn't have needed to say this, but I am almost forced to say: I acknowledge misogyny exists, and it does so on a much larger scale. It is perpetrated by both men & women. Yes, statistically speaking, most of the violent crime is done by men than women. But that doesn't mean that MOST men are violent. A few bad apples does not a bad orchard make. And hopefully, touchwood, generation-after-generation many of us are realizing the inherent patriarchy/misogyny and trying to correct it more and more. But men can ALSO be abused, sometimes leading them to even take their own lives, as in this case.
