I just finished to read the novel "The Devotion of Suspect X" (Keigo Higashino) to verify if Ekta Kapoor's legal notice against the writer and director of the Malayalam Film was justified (she has the Hindi movie rights). It isn't at all although the subject (cover-up of a crime) is the same.

If anyone is a lover of crime novels, Higashino's novel is a treat...very well developped and written.

Right. And coverup of crime is a very common subject. The plot is quite different in Drishyam.

Ekta has an issue. Because when the subject is the same, there will be comparisons. Her lawsuit won't win though. One good thing is her director is Sujoy Ghosh. He makes good thrillers. So comparison to Drishyam may not negatively impact Ekta's film.

The sequel I liked more then drishum1 just my view as akshay khanna in the sequel made it more interesting 👍 Ajay was good in both movies as well as the others all did their roles well !! The plot twist in sequel very well done!! This movie and race 1 I liked akshay khannas characters!!
