I love Anand Babu's character in this movie. He is jaded and cynical but still hopeful. His heart has been broken & he laughs it off but still seeks love and treasures it when he can find it with Pushpa. Such a beautiful film with such well-etched characters. And the songs! Ahhh.

He differs in that sense from Vijay in Pyaasa who is so cynical that he veers on extreme despondency and cannot appreciate the good things around him (Sattar and Gulabo). In his defense though, he continues to want and seek better things ("Jinhe naaz hai Hind par woh kahan hai"), bearing blow after blow, until he finally sees Gulabo for what she's offering him. 😭😭😭 The songs again! 😭😭⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

PS: I hope they never remake these movies.

Amar Prem and Pyaasa are on two sides of the spectrum... They portray a very similar storyline and characters but the way the subject matter is dealt with makes them both very different!
