There was no rain for around 90 minutes and there were a couple of inspections with the umpires concerned about the damp spots. Then the heavens opened up to extinguish any hopes of a contest.

Both the Group 1 encounters yesterday at the MCG have been washed out. The points were shared.

Four teams are now tied on three points but New Zealand have played one game lesser and Australia have the worst NRR. This group is wide open. Rain has played spoilsport in five games. Who'll make it to the semis?

With precise weather report for 6 to 10 days available now, why ICC blundered to continue with the same venue? Only to abandon the highly expected matches?

A lovely spring day/night with no rain forecast. Despite the SCG lugging the second-lowest T20I runrate in Australia going into the tournament, the three highest first innings in the competition have all been recorded here - and have been convincingly defended.

It means, we are going to watch an interesting encounter. 😊
