Loved The Great Indian Kitchen, and it is really infuriating to see them making a remake. The movie's concept is easy to grasp, the dialogue is minimal, so the language barrier is not really there.

Also, for those making this a religious issue, it is not. There are religions in world, societies that view women as being impure during their period. The main takeaway is not the period though, it is the misogynist and sexist people - specifically those that are educated. The only religious criticism is that even educated and liberal people take part in rituals. Please remember sati was also widely accepted practice, but over the times it became obsolete and was criminalized. Child marriages are also widely practiced but are illegal. It is just shining a light on rituals that are misogynist and sexist and should have no room in today's world.
