Please. This is grooming. If a young teen is infatuated with an older man, his job is to ignore it instead of playing along.
And it is not just love that Anil saw. He clearly got attraction and confused feelings for her due to her resemblance to her mom.
Lot of students or young interns or employees may have crush for their tutors, coaches or boss for eg. And even flaunt that infatuation openly. Does it mean those older ones reciprocate? Some young ones are even infatuated with older married men who have kids. Does it mean that open obsession or infatuation should be reciprocated?
What young Sridevi had for older Anil was obsession and infatuation. She was clearly in that hormonal phase when teens or youngsters get fascinated by some older man who is nice to them or appears mysterious.
Sri lacks parents which is why she craves attention. To take advantage of an orphan like this is cheap. He was literally her benefactor and raised her. A benefactor and someone who takes responsibility of raising a child is almost like a parent figure. Not a romantic lover or future spouse unless he raised kid with intention of waiting for her to grow up and later marry her.
Anil is a predator and groomer in Lamhe. Pervert.

Imagine you raise the baby girl and pay for her education and upbringing only to marry her later or avoid her as you cannot control yourself because she looks like her mom you had hots for? Yuck concept. Hero lusts after mom as a teen and lusts after daughter as a middle aged man. Puke. Maa nahi toh beti sahi. What a perverted concept!
In the movie Anil was actually attracted to Sridevi's face 😆that's why he got attracted to the daughter's face too. When the movie flopped people gave the excuse that it's way ahead of its times but actually the story was quite problematic even for the current times.
Lamhe. I also liked the Sridevi and Anil Kapoor in movies too.
But both good soundtracks.
Yes even now it wont work.the thene has become outdated now.in the past 15 years lots of age difference love stories have come in films and tv.

It's not about the age difference part. Anil fell in love with Sridevi's beauty. He was heartbroken when she married someone else. Then she died leaving behind an infant and in order to fulfill her last wish he provided all the necessities to her daughter but kept her far away from himself because his ego was hurt due to her mother not marrying him. He may have thought, if she had married to me then she probably would have been alive today and this girl would have been our daughter. His ego made him keep her far away from himself. After so many years when the young girl visited him he felt attracted to her only because her face resembles her mother, the same woman he was madly in love with. There was no emotional connect with her. In the end he accepted her only because he thought she's gonna give him the love which he expected from her mother. Quite a weird story which I don't think even today's generation would have liked. Their relationship was based on just attraction and infatuation and no emotional bonding or true love.
Lamhe was a terrible story.
Chandni was your average YRF 90s fare.
YRF stopped making good movies once the 90s started.
Millennials(at least those born in the 80's) clock Dhurandhar as propaganda. Gen Z doesn’t even register it as anything that serious. And that’s...
