Amitabh is NEVER in any camp. He is a weathercock.

He was with Gandhis and INC for decades and benefitted from them.

His younger brother Ajitabh and sister in law Ramola Bachchan are still family friends with Gandhi's and Vadras.

His wife is in SP. Yet when he saw tide turning he started endorsing Gujarat tourism and warmed to BJP.

I bet he will move to any other party, like, say, AAP if in future he sees them as major player in rule at Centre.

Amitabh is biggest star purely due to his high profile political links both in India and abroad. He got cream of scripts and favours from govt.

Of course he has talent and charisma but his political connections made him the longest lasting icon he is. Doordarshan used to show his films more than any other actor. So much so that for 90s generation he is the only old time star whose films they saw on TV. He was also given state honours and national awards at a comparatively younger age. Which other actor can boast of playing in backyard of Indira G and have Rajiv Gandhi as his bachpan ka langotiya yaar?
