The only darawani smile I can think of is that Deepu pic from Cannes. What’s PvC? -_-
Self-made is a more of a myth than a reality in today's day and age anyway. Even with the best connections, you can't get anywhere without your individual work ethics, now can you? It's never solely a matter of "self" and especially in Gauri's case, it would be stupid and downright disrespectful to overlook her contributions and investments in SRK's success. She comes across as the steady rock in his life, and that is not easy.
Tbh, You dont even need money and rich husband to be a designer. All you need is one fake certificate learned from xyz institute plus weird taste in designing. Design dress as bullshit as you can and it will still be termed as holyshit good design.
In SRK's wife case, she is obviously doing it for the sake of doing something. In reality, she've same goal as most of the rich husband's wife has. ie: provide support, care and love.
I second this. Self made is not a thing. People don’t live in a vacuum. Everyone needs the support of others to become successful. Some have family connections, some are really good at networking and others were lucky enough to get noticed by someone important.
There is no one who climbs the ladder solo and becomes rich, without anyone else believing in their vision and giving them opportunities.
You literally CANNOT make it on your own. This is as true for celebs, as it is for a common person with a rags to riches story.
Also, the success of women is always questioned and scrutinised, while that of men isn’t even up for debate. People won’t question SRK about where he would have been, if Gauri hadn’t stood by him in his struggling days. But even if Gauri’s designs were the best freakin designs on earth, she would never be credited for her hard work.
Many will blame Anushka Sharma when Virat Kohli struggles on the field, but won’t credit her if he excels. Funnily, Virat is never held accountable when Anushka’s films fail or her performances fall short.
A husband and a wife are true life partners. It’s the most intimate relationship you will ever have in your life. They are pillars holding their world together. When one falls short, the other over extends to keep their world running. To fulfill the dreams of one another, they often sacrifice their own wishes.
Just because the success of one finally speaks, doesn’t mean the role of the other can be ignored.

This whole self made BS is in itself a load of BS because of the simple fact that we are not living in a vaccum . For ex,How is SRK successful without Gauri helping him maintain a certain aura and image, let alone the sacrifices she had to make?
The creator of this post is always bashing any one with advantage. Most middle class people are not self made. Many parents find their higher education and even marriage with their own pocket. They need reference for jobs. They do the same for their kids.
A good financial backing gives a head start in life. If you are poor, you are invisible everyone. You can show your talent only if you are visible. When you do not have a pedigree or degree, use monetary advantage and connections to move ahead in life.
People who buy stuff and services from Gauri buy it as she is SRK's wife. Same reason people pay for services of Suzanne Khan and Zareen Khan for interior designing. We have enough interior designer and decorators. You need something to be visible.

I know right😆...As if we were in their place we would reject all the benefits coming our way and run to the Himalayas to do tapasya...😆
People need to get down from their high horses and do a reality check....we are no different than them...we would be doing the same things if we were in their place..I mean taking advantage of the advantage.😆

Exactly that is my issue. Women are always called gold diggers in any given situation. We never see this tag come out on men. If a girl is accomplished she wants someone that matches her accomplishments she is a gold digger. If a woman is less accomplished than her man her worth is still only due to her husband. What should Gauri or any of them do in this case? Sit at home and not try to become anything?
Self-made can never really be a thing. Would I have passed certain classes in math or chemistry if my father was not up all night studying with me? Would I have made it to law school if my father could not pay for extra tutoring for the entrance exam which is 70% of the decision? I can see nepo kids have curated careers that take things being handed to them on a platter. And they are to some extent ruining entertainment for us. But star wives really are not doing anything to us? Just let them be. Self-made or not?
Going by that logic, only those who haven't had parents are self-made else others have all had their parents to support them, feed them, educate them...We are all privileged to have parents who have supported us and made us what we are today. Does that make us too spoiled brats? 🤔
With regards to these BW celebs, they too have a share in their husband's fortune as well as their kids. It's sometimes the wives, the kids too who turn out more successful than their husbands like Dimple and then Rohit Shetty, Ekta Kapoor and so on who turned out successful.
@bold - This should be normalised. Women have as much right to want an equal partner as men and refuse to accept any lesser. That’s why the “compromise” and “adjust” shit raises my hackles. Society never asks a man to compromise. It’s always the woman, who is seen as a gold digger or an opportunist if she has higher standards than the bare minimum.
The choice of a life partner is one of the most important decisions a person will ever make. Why should anyone lower their standards at all? Compromising is the reason there are so many unhappy marriages today.
Regarding star wives, it’s damned if you do and damned if you don’t. I always have respect for anyone who wants to create something of their own. Atleast they want to make something creative. It takes guts to put yourself out there to be judged by everyone. There is a lot of pressure and anxiety when you are famous. God knows, the very thought of having my manuscript read by others gives me such jitters as one of the common folk. I don’t know what I would do if there were millions of people scrutinising my work, ready to tear it apart and discredit my efforts.
Behind every self made person, there are parents and spouses who have sacrificed crucial years of their lives out of love. There are mentors who have given wings to their dreams. There are countless coincidences that created the desired results. It’s a whole journey and an entourage of people that make the success possible.
