Javed is fake atheist. Back in the past he was justifying fatwa against Salman Rushdie.

I think he came there to promote RDB. He was with whole RDB cast. I doubt he knew issue properly. He probably thought this protest by Patkar suited theme of RDB about citizen activism. He must have thought the tribals or locals will be displaced if dam is made (as Patkar claimed). He already disliked Modi post 2002 so he joined that dharna. He later himself could not justify much why he was there and made the issue about his FoE. To be honest Aamir is never serious about causes he takes and picks and drops causes as per his whims or films and serials he is doing. He dropped dam issue. Later chose education when he did TZP and 3I and dropped that too. He never took responsibility for NGOs he featured on SMJ either and his AKP remained quiet when one NGO Love Commandos was founs extorting money from runaway couples who were threatened by families. He was also unsure of kicking out an employee named in Me too and almost seemed like he did not want to do it but did it under Kiran's pressure. He kept endorsing Coke despite groundwater controversy.

So you know he is not serious about causes. He knew he was weaker compared to other 2 Khans in terms of charisma so tried to use causes and social theme based shows and films to revive his career post failure of Mela, Mann etc. And it clicked with him spectacularly.

I would never read much into Aamir dabbling in causes. He is not a consistent or articulate man. His intolerance statement was also poorly worded and he had the backlash coming even if there was no BJP but some other party in power. His offscreen persona is a hot mess. Confused and foot in mouth syndrome type guy who often creates mess.

I have always felt Javed is not only fake atheist but fake secular. He and Shabana never spoke against 1984 pogroms or HR violations in Punjab or NE region but speak on J&K, Babri, riots against own community. They speak on only issues of their community and are kids of parents who were sort of court poets for Nehru govt. They keep quiet when there are crimes or bans under INC/UPA.

Only after trolling did both speak against attacks on Hindus and Sikhs in Pak and Bangladesh in recent years. I do not remember them condemning attack on Taslima Nasreen several years ago either.

I am not aware Javed defended fatwa against Rushdie. Disgusting if true and not surprising though.

I wonder how he got award from Dawkins foundation when his atheism is mostly a fake cover.

He is close to INC so why will he speak? His relatives were in INC. Look up his family tree.

But now he is dhobi ka dog. And may have irked INC also by showing Op Bluestar and 1984 Sikh genocide scenes in LSC.

I remember the protests against him in Gujarat and his films taken down from theatres in 2006.

He was removed as ambassador of Innova after its showrooms were attacked in Gujarat for having him as their endorser.

I think he is nowhere now given how he shared stage with Anna Hazare during Lokpal andolan also and irked UPA.

Like I told Nimbu Mirchi, Aamir just hops from one cause to another depending on time or whim or films he has for release relating to a subject. He has no idea of causes he gets into. Drops and chooses issues at whim.

No it wasn’t RDB.

It was Fanna. And it got banned in Gujarat.

Sorry I forgot. But I think he was also cashing in RDB popularity which is why he brought RDB cast with him. He managed to promote Fanaa and also build RDB hysteria which was taking nation by storm and its collections kept picking every week after February as youth found it inspiring. Aamir knew back then itself that this film and causes thing would turn around his image. Otherwise he was even lagging behind Hrithik at BO due to his 4 year break and failure of Mangal Pandey.

To gain fake popularity. Medha Patekar used to be funded by anti India groups. She and her husband were once raided by law for some illegal activities.

Before anyone comes behind me. I have seen big ngo top brass enjoying 5 star suites and travelling in first and business class in airlines. I have seen their high flying life before government introduced curbs on foreign funding.

Underworld has invested a lot of money on Bollywood with narcotics, hawala and illegal arms. You can google it. This is the reason Priety Zinta got married abroad and Rajesh Roshan was nearly shot dead. Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan still roam freely.

Rise of bollywood corporates have decreased this influenced a little bit
