Yes many viewers relate to Anupama, Imlie or Sai Joshi because somewhere down the line the woman managing the household can't voice out their opinion, there are multiple issues with out any solutions for ex some men are alcoholics or carry affairs on the sly, family members do not acknowledge cracks in a marriage etc.

In Mumbai many of the cable subscribers live in chawls and small shanties. My maid is huge fan of Ak Maheshwari but could not connect after Hina's exit.

These subset of woman have shifted to the 10 pm show because of what Anupama is doing on TV. There is a innate satisfaction when their screen idols face the world.

Thank you for replying and explaining. I understand now why these serials are important and being from outside India I would never judge someone for watching as I do watch a few myself it was just curiosity as to why certain ones are so popular over there.

My only thing is I wish they were not all the same template which just gets presented differently and also, like the serials I watch over here, it would be great if they did their homework on the storylines. The production teams and actors here do their bit by researching their stories especially those that are hot topics and of sensitive nature. This gives a more factual and balanced story brining in more viewers, especially if it’s done well. That’s what most get awards for as well. The serials also get support from the relevant bodies and this gives credibility to the creators, actors etc
