All I want to say, this show has started with 3 main leads and everyone else is a side character. So, they were used only when they were needed. In other words, irrespective of the build up and bond these side characters shared, if they were not needed in the narration at the time of the day, they were not used.

I agree with what you said about Nani. Nani was very rude towards Lavanya for no reason. None of them cook in the house. They can, but they have truck load of house help, so, there is no need for them to cook anymore. Is this teaching all for that occasional cooking? The same applies other chores they wanted Lavanya to learn.

I can go on and on forever, but I will stop here.

Cheers..

Thank you so much for your thoughts! What you said about side characters is very true.
@bold: yes exactly! lol I don't know why I cracked up thinking of all the taam-jhaam for that one occasional cooking. Over years my view of other parts of the canon has softened but it's this Miss-Kashyap-Ko-Desi-Banao that fails to provide enough logic. I even have logic for Rocky!

I definitely agree with the bold! the show was about Arnav, Anjali and Khushi in that respective order and for most of the show we saw Arnav's perspective because his relationship to the two women, brought the changes to the show.

For the episodes covered in this podcast, I think we saw a slight shift of Khushi's lonesome journey towards Arnav beginning. I do wish we saw more of a shift to how Khushi became more isolated and alone when it came to her feelings about Arnav. She was already quite secretive when it came to her own happiness. Her thinking her feelings are un-reciprocated by Arnav also add in a layer of loneliness that wasn't there to the extent it does after elopement. Both Payal and Khushi think the other one trusts them with everything, and the sisters definitely do in the beginning of the show but we see how that's untrue during office tracks when khushi doesn't reveal too much of the struggles she's going through to Payal.

I think the side character's do add value to the story. A proper Akash and Payal foil relationship would've been wonderful addition to the show to help viewers draw strong parallels with how arnav views shyam x anjali, and khushi with akash x payal, however end of the day, it wasn't Khushi's story with Arnav, this was Arnav's story with Khushi, and that's what we got.

edited to add;

about the cooking etc, my own interpretation is that the house staff would prepare everything, and the members would basically come in and put the things in the pan. I think Nani's whole thing of no one help Lavanya understand the rules of the house was her way of showing how much she despises her addition to the family and how she will do anything to break Arnav and Lavanya off. she was a little too much with that but I do think that's what she was trying to do in hopes of Arnav understanding that she thinks he should be with someone who is not like lavanya.

Good analysis on the track, it is always good to hear other perspectives.

I thought Nani was a little harsh, but I always felt it stemmed from the way Lavanya was brought into the house. Nani told Arnav she would not accept Lavanya, to the point that Arnav was ready to leave the house, and then had to allow Lavanya to stay with them on the insistence of Shyam. She was expressing her anger at being forced in a different way. I also feel Lavanya was a bit of an air head before coming to the Raizada household (I want to add that Lavanya was one of my favorite characters on the show and I loved that they never turned her negative), she herself appreciated her new-found realization about the importance of family.

I loved the cinematography of this show - the way they used the reflection of the pool, without adding too many lights was exceptional. That added so much depth to the story of Arnav and Khushi, the tracks by the poolside.

Uff, this whole part of the show was so heart-warming, watching Khushi realize her love for Arnav, and even him softening his stance towards her. The scene where he is reading the paper and she keeps going close to him to hear the dhak-dhak was one of my favorite comedy pieces.

A & S, this was amazing, looking forward to your next analysis episode!

I will listen to them and get back with my comments.

Thank You.

Nicely done👍🏼

Many things in this track show us how these two think of each other, especially ASR. His fight scene parallels to Shyam's one hold power, but the makers completely lost that touch to rewind this. Shashi's character could be so powerful, but no one paid attention to it. BTW, the lenhga Khushi wore in this track, she wore it again on her mun dikhai in the contract marriage.

The dialogues while they walking in the forest and then at the dhabba, were funny even when she was sitting in the bonnet.

That track showed Arnav the purity and the innocence of Khushi at a different level.

Wonderful Podcast on Nainital trip.👍🏼

Loved listening to Ruchi, Ritz and S.🤗

Round of applause to you all.👏👏👏

As always you girls are good at unearthing the connections, commonalities and symbolisms. For example, the parallel between Shyam letting Shashi die right in front of his eyes to get Khushi and Arnav thrashing the goons for misbehaving with Khushi.

I agree that Shashi's character was underutilized. He is such a sweet and strong character, the makers wasted a good track and opportunity.

I do understand where the dislike for Arnav is coming from. Contract marriage track could have been dealt a bit differently with a complete revelation of Shaym's crimes and Arnav's redemption.

Cheers..

Thank you so much for commenting!!! Omg yes the lehengas are identical! Khusih does look extremely pretty in it. Shashi's paralysis was indeed pretty frightening and could've been a good plot point in the future.
