The statement like don't like us don't watch does not make business sense at all.

Film stars had a mystery among them as they were not mingling in the common streets. Nobody knew their personal lives and we're only looking at them during movies where they played larger than life roles or looked super glamorous.

With social media their mystery is gone, as most of them know about their make up , gym, food and so much of their personal lives.

Bollywood is not on the top pedestal anymore. Today it is like any corporate business, you should have a great product and then market it well.

Your product is your film and to market it you require stars to be humble, approachable and likeable.

With so much accessibility over content, people will be fed up of entitled film star kids who don't have talent, still get films and then have the audacity to blame audience if the film does not do well. And not just nepo kids anybody giving out brash statements are a big turn off, case in example Tapsee and Anurag.

Kareena has the raw talent but tbh the scripts and her role choices could have been better. But nobody talked about nepotism for Kareena, they talked about her attitude towards audience that in interviews say that they themselves don't watch Hindi films and don't like us don't come.

This would have been okay 10 years ago, but people did not like that product and called her out on her attitude, but I think people are more forgiving towards her.

With Alia, after Gangubai, she could have really been more humble, but she was very forgettable in RRR plus she pissed off many fans after being passive aggressive about her role and the film. Then her attitude in kwk was so obnoxious, I mean look at Kareena and Sonam appearance where they were so chilled out.

She was again okay with some misses during darling promotions but again with Brahmastra she is screwing up. That is why they need better pr

Grovelling and clobbering in fear is not called being humble

Many south actors who are hailed for being humble (Vijay, mahesh babu, ajith, rajnikanth ..) all took a strong stance when they had to regarding piracy or boycotting their films for unnecessary reasons …they didn’t disrespect audience feedback…they disrespected slander and propaganda and malicious attempts to bring them down

Humility is acceptance of your limitations, willingness to work hard and learn and acknowledgement of better /good work

Standing up for urself, ur co workers ur industry is not arrogance
And shutting up in fear is not humility

She didn’t slander anyone ..she responded to the slander on her …

When ppl threaten they will boycott them for whatever reason, there is no sane response they can come up with other than “do what u want” …if they feel strongly enough to boycott the film and try and influence others , they won’t listen to logical reasoning period .

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. When Aamir humbled himself and asked everyone to please watch his movie, people took great pleasure in creating headlines saying how he was groveling and begging for his movie.

Valid point. Aamir apologised and even begged people to see his film in theatres.

Did it make any difference that he was begging to audience and showed humility?

Kareena also later said please watch our film. Her statement was only mocked. It was not seen as sign of humbling.

WTF should stars do then eh? They are damned if they do and damned if they do not.

They should express their opinions frankly …thats what a democracy is

Bullying people to “toe the line” or “shut up” ain’t democracy …

It was just an agenda.

You are talking about a different situation. That wasn't ethical, I agree.

I was talking about the so called "don't watch our movie" silly mantra by the BW Celebrity.!!

Both are in different context!!

They might consider it if it was valid reasons but no one can reason with stupidity like “villain wears a tilak so Hindus are shown bad …padmavathis left part of the waist is showing u need to cover it up..:ranveers bum is showing” kinda nonsense as reasons to spread hate

The best thing to do then is to let them have their opinions and carry on …it’s not like they can be reasoned with or are even willing to have a discussion

They're entitled brats to think their movies are all about them, to tell people to not watch it if they don't like them.

Who is talking about boycotting for "stupid" reasons like Padmaavati's exposed waist (which btw we can't decide for others what reason is valid for them to boycott a film)?

Alia and Kareena talked about people who simply don't like them (and other nepokids) and told them to not watch their films. That includes not just the boycott gang, but anyone who doesn't like them. They're asking to be boycotted by people who don't like them.

That is exactly my point. The south stars have stood by each other and the industry and have not tolerated slander about them. At the same time they have respected the audience both when the films do well and when they don't. They thank the audience when their films do well and when they don't they take the responsibility.

During the cauvery agitation, all Tamil stars took a stance irrespective of their ideology on Tamil Nadu, similarly in Karnataka all Kannada actors took a stance. Each other's films were not released for 3 months. Once agitation was over, films released in each other states. They said they respected the other state and fraternity but they all took a stand. There was consistency.

Not saying that south stars are perfect, there are so many issues there.

But they are smart, true to themselves and the respect the audience. They are also quite assertive when putting about themselves.

That is my point most Bollywood folks are missing the point.

Aamir gave really WTF statement some years back and in the age of social media and internet, you have to be careful, same with Kareena. Though both begged and grovelled people were like they are behaving like this only during their films which is very true.

Bollywood lacks consistency, good scripts and unity. When TKF was released nobody in the fraternity supported it but expected everybody to support LSC. Maybe TKF was a little extreme but so are Anurag Kashyap films when you can support an Anurag why can't you support Vivek when both belong to the same industry.

Irrespective of the films and actors, the fraternity should stand up for all of its releases irrespective of its political or religious ideology. That is what is cinema where every ideology has a voice and is expressed freely.

Make a good product, empower your writers, technicians and other crew members. Stand by each other and reduce the inflated budgets of actors. Make good and entertaining movies, simple.

Nobody is asking stars to beg the audience to watch their films. They could just ignore the boycott gang by refusing to answer any question related to boycotts, or just say something like "whoever wants to watch, would watch, and whoever doesn't want to watch, won't watch".

By why would they ignore or won't make controversial statements when they could grab headlines and get publicity for their films by doing it?😆Giving too much importance to Twitter trends when 80% of people in India don't use Twitter. Bollywood is asking for publicity and giving excuses for their failures by using the boycott trends.

And Kareena deserves to be mocked for showing her "humble" side just before the release of LSC. Why should people accept her so-called "apology" when it's obviously fake?
