The statistics we learnt at PG level was brutal - those scars still remain

But this one is easy. 1 HR fixed. 1 female out of 2, so 2 possible options there. That leaves 3 options for the third position - Anu Malik, Vishal Dadlani and Javed Ali. So 1 x 2 x 3 = 6 possible combinations.

Of course, I am taking the original set, which did not have Alka Yagnik. If we add her, then 1 x 3 x 3 = 9 possible combinations.

Now, we can enter game theory realms and decide that Vishal and Anu may be mutually exclusive.......

A practical man!
I vote for HR, Anu (now that he has been sanitized for TV ) and a surprise female judge. The reason being that Neha is on record I think about not doing anymore reality shows. And Sonu was TCT bailout for Sony but does not have the social media profile to justify another innings.

Monali Thakur or Akriti Kakkar? They have been judges before. Or Palak Muchhal? HR could bring her in.

The spot was occupied by Neha who is amongst the Top 10 female singers in India.
To match her they need Shreya or Sunidhi.
Failing that Alka, Kavita could have been used. But Sony prefers more current singers I feel.
That leaves the 2nd tier of Monali, Akriti, Palak, Kanika, Neeti, Harshdeep etc. most of whom have history but little current work.

With just 6 possible candidates it is easy to do this exercise manually.

If we had to select from a larger number, there would be many more constraints and then we would get into trouble with the mathematics.
