dipping my toe into the thread, hope it is okay. 😅😅

so I watched the latest episode rather randomly and I was appalled and saddened for mehek. it made me so sad to how mehek and her parents are being threatened into a wedding and relationship they do not want. 😰the one scene I liked was when mehek's dad asked with snark if he was allowed to invite people and he didn't know. I liked that fire in such depressing situation and it was good they didn't invite anyone -- this wasn't some happy occasion for them or their daughter.

at the same time, am not sure I understand the tone of this drama -- are they promoting a toxic love story? where a tone deaf hero uses his arrogance and feudal status to bully, threaten people while his father plans a murder of the girl? what on earth was her crime? that she was beautiful and so she 'seduced' his son -- when he was the idiot who kept harassing her?

I can accept if in the end, shamsher gets his ass whipped and realizes that you can't force love. I won't mind such a drama if he ends up along and mehek goes on to lead a happy life. however, I would be highly troubled if they hae these two shown as a couple because it sends the wrong message.

so here are my question to folks:

1. how do you see this problematic relationship between mehek and shamsher?

2. what do you think is the point of the drama?

3. will it be a tragic ending or a toxic and abusive (happy) ending?

Hi there, we welcome all kinds of healthy discussions here 😊

Mehak's situation is quite tragic. Her world's gone all topsy-turvy because her father decided to stop a bully from his antics in the middle of the road. What Akram did was stand up for good i.e the ideal thing to do...but unfortunately, most people refrain from doing so irl because, like we get the see in the show, what money and power can do.

It was nice to see Akram being sarcastic, knowing that's the only thing he can really do in this situation. At least her family holds their ground, even if it is subtly done.

The drama is based on a real life story, so even if the characters are exaggerated for television, they are pretty much behaving the way they did irl.

Contrary to popular opinion, the hero has not been glorified. In fact he's been called the villain multiple times on the show itself. His family and he are shown to be in the wrong and there is no way their actions can be defended.

About whether its a love story or what will happen in future tracks...we already have a hunch but chose not to discuss it here to keep spoilers away. So we've covered it in the Danish AT.

Answers to your questions:

1. Their relationship is non-existant. I personally just see it as an association.

2. Its a real life story. There have been a couple of lessons too, like Mehak and her father's bond, how Akram wants his daughter to complete her education before getting married (which every father in the world should encourage), the sad and bitter reality of what the upper class with power can do etc. Other than that, not every drama will have an in-your-face social message which I am okay with...the news is bad enough and the last two dramas I saw with intellectual writing just fell flat towards the end, ruining the entire show. On the other hand, Danish has already done many social dramas in the past.

3. I can't answer that here lol. All I can say is there's quite a lot that'll happen in future episodes.

ooh, thats interesting -- I didn't realize it is based on a real life story. that makes me think that this won't be a typical toxic love story. it drives me nuts that you have these characters who are bordering on criminal behaviour somehow redeemed because they said a sorry. the actor is good looking but that does not mean the character deserves a happy ending. 🤔so I will keep my eye out.

shemsher seems to be the type of personality who has always gotten what he wanted and therefore, cannot imagine a rejection. his mother said he is the type to get intense interest over something and quickly lose interest as well. so it seemed like even if his dad had not hatched this murder plot, shemsher would have gotten tired of mehek once his infatuation got over and he would have promptly dumped her like trash.

like you said, some of these social message dramas can be super boring. I like entertainment but I don't want toxic characters getting randomly redeemed. give me entertainment and send those terrible characters a just punishment. that is what I want! 😁

Yeah many don't know that its a real story. 😆

All I can say is that Shamsher will need more than "sorry" to get redeemed, if he gets redeemed.

@bold: Tbh, based on how I see such characters, its not just the good looks that make them appealing. It is how well they portray the character. There have been tons of grey/anti hero characters on ITV too, but one roots for them when the performance is impeccable.

Like when Danish played Sultan Durrani in Deewangi, even though the writer deliberately messed up his character in the end so that we start rooting for the other two characters but that did not happen. On the other hand, when he play Jaan-e-Alam in Ab Dekh..., he was so damn bad that even I being a Danish fan hated him 😆

@red: I think his father changed that bit now...coz had they got married, he would get bored, and move on...now the heartbreak's gonna change him, at least a certain part of him. If Baba Sahab really wanted Mehak out of their lives then all he had to do was let them get married lol.

Danish had already done dramas with social messages like Ghayal, Kaash Main Teri Beti Na Hoti, Hum Thehray Gunahgaar, Haara Dil and Mera Rab Waris. So honestly, all I want is to watch him on screen since he does only one drama a year now. Rest...its easy to differenciate between real and reel. 😆

That's my question too. Why are thy actually trying to show ? That girls must never step out , or indulge in any kind of disagreement with the boys to attract their attention ? Better they move around in burqa in such societies but then boys fall in love with them just looking at their eyes 😆There r shows like this and they have been super successful , albeit written well with sad endings.

If this is about the boys journey and his toxic love story, it's a very sad way to start it. If he cries , turn into a vegetable , become depressed or simply sit in the Mazar like Mr. Kam3 , will he be deemed as a "hero" ? He is still a lowlife who wanted to force his will on the girl . Why should they have a happy ending ? His love his obsession his madness his depression his problem . The girl had no role to play. If she is imp, ask her wish first or try to woo her . Didn't he go to school college or was he brought up in a jungle ? Even western societies stress on the importance of consent .

I see no point of this drama , coz I don't want a love story out of it , I don't want redemption , not interested in watching a depressed hero , not Interested in his sadness at all , nor do I wanna watch his punishment . His suffering can't be more than mehaks. He went with his way , his father went with his..they want what they want . Innocent must not be punished otherwise it's not good story writing . But yes if they showed a strong heroine instead of a helpless sulking one, who fought tooth and eye for her independent existence , I'll def watch it . Why wait for God to Interfere and teach these lowlife s a lesson ?
