Yes, i think we all wanted that specially after neil broke the news to her in most insensitive way. Rajita made neil act out of character for the sake of drama.

Chapter 37 The Interview

Mickey informed Neil that media people have come. Neil stood up to go in there. A worried Mini held is hand.

"Are you sure you wanna do this?"

"Yes I am. Today I will face all of them. No more hiding." Neil replied with determination.

As soon as he arrived in room, shutterbugs started clicking pictures, media went crazy to ask questions first. Neil saw all this and ask them all to sit down and assured them that nobody would be denied any question whether of personal or professional nature.

"First of all I would really like to thank you all people. I didnt expect this kind of response from you guys, after all I am out of work since almost a year now and have been dealing with lots of issues." Neil began but was soon interrupted by one reporter who thought to make funny comment mocking him.

"With the amount of controversies you have given us, we wouldn't miss a chance to attend your press conference even if we are on our death bed."

Everyone laughed at it and few thought now Neil would come in his typical angry man mode but they were surprised that even he shared a laugh with them.

"Wow! Looks like you have made real progress or are you so high on drugs that you can differentiate between your insult or joke?" Another person commented from press.

Mini who was standing with Mickey in the back room, was instantly angry, "These people....if they just want to pass judgments then why they are even here?"

"Relax! Let it be, thode bahut comments to karenge ye log bhi. Specially after knowing Neil's history, they will try to provoke him somehow but I think Neil has got it this time. I have never seen him so calm, confident and relaxed during press meet." Mickey assured her.

"Drugs! Thats right. I was wondering from where I should start...so lets start from my drug addiction. You people must be wondering where I was all this months. I was admitted to rehabilitation center, getting treatment for my addiction.It was a difficult phase for me, taking lots of medicines everyday, battling withdrawal symptoms but my loved ones kept supporting me to fight." Neil replied without getting affected by them.

"Today I am here to introduce to you all to real Neil Oberoi. The person who I used to be once, the person I have again become with the support of my loved ones. Neil Oberoi whom you all are accustomed to see, arrogant, thick head, angry, frustrated, always high...that was not real Neil. My addiction, the drugs and alcohol made me that. I am not defending any of my obnoxious behavior behind the excuse of my addiction, by very means, I was one pain in the a**, but still I want you all to hear me out at least once before giving judgments on me." Neil continued and by now everyone had noticed that this is not the Neil they are used to, he is really different, a changed man and out of curiosity if not for anything else they decided to listen to him patiently.

Neil looked at Mini and Mickey and they gestured him to continue. Mini wished him all the best. Neil started telling everything from his point of view for the first time. "It all started when I broke up with the only love of my life. I had grown up alone in hostels, witnessed a broken family, frequent fighting of my parents but I never lost hope. Then my love came into my life bringing lots of new dreams...I was happy...happiest man on earth but destiny had some other plans. We had to break up due to some misunderstandings and all hell become loose. I was shattered completely...." Neil told his whole story how he started on drugs, how it affected his life, how deeply tormented he was which made him behave in that way on the stage, disrespect his music and stage to how he is sober now, free from addiction and willing to live to the fullest this new chance his life has given to him. Neil couldnt stop and broke down into tears many times during the interview he neither hid his tears behind his masculinity nor did he stop the interview.

Everyone was silent for few minutes once Neil stopped talking. He wiped his eyes and looked at them for their reaction. He mostly expected they will mock him more or may even crack jokes at him or he could be the subject of new memes but what he least expected were their claps. Some people even stood up and praised him for his honesty.

But still what exactly caused your breakdown on the stage?" reporter asked fro elaboration on that particular event.

"See, I enjoyed immense love from fans. They were crazy about me. All I could hear was their cries of 'we love you', 'you are our hero'. At that moment I was feeling terrible. I realized that I was not worthy of their love as I have committed many mistakes, I am not a person they should idolize. I even tried to explain it them but it was like they were not interested in listening anything. I was their badass hero, the cool anti hero and they cant have emotional breakdown on stage. So when I tried talking to them they just shut me up and I was really high that time, it enraged me more causing that breakdown. I was not being rude, I was just sick. It was not hate to the fans or stage it was self hate." Neil tried to explain.

"Its really commendable job to come out and share your story like this without any filter. Do you think people will believe you? And what about your fans, they are still hurt by your behavior?" One reporter asked.

"I think media is smart enough to not fall for such gimmicks. If you guys can believe it then people would definitely see my real emotions and if they dont then its ok. I dont aim for anyone's validation about it. I just wanted to bare my heart out to the world. And as far as the fans are concerned. I can understand their anger. I still havent forgiven myself for what I did on stage so I cant expect them to let it go so easily. But I will try my best to be worthy of their love again." Neil replied with his eyes shining with new found confidence and honesty.

"What about that girl in your life? I mean your girlfriend...was that same girl who handled your PR? Is it her name you have in your tattoo?" Another person asked.

"At last...your un explainable love for my tattoo..." Neil laughed and so did others.

"To answer your question, yes, she is the one. My one and only true love, the PR girl, whose name I have tattooed, one who destroyed me, rebuilt me again, my pain, my remedy, my sin, my penance...a love which burns you into ashes and yet give you new life...Mini Singh." Neil replied and gestured Mini to come forward and join him.

Mini was shocked and shook his head in no as she was not prepared for it but Neil smiled at her and in his most filmy, typical and Neil-ish style extended his hand for her, "Come love, pyar kiya toh darna kya." Those who understood his language had a smile on their lips while those who didnt were equally amused at his antics.

Mini slowly came to him and sat next to him. People went crazy for clicking their pictures from every angle. Mini also became a part of that interview as reporters started asking questions from her too.

"Ms. Mini, have you really forgiven him? You know how many flings he had been associated with? After that incident how many women have come forward and accused him of all kind of physical violence. How you can accept such man being a woman yourself?" One reporter asked and Mini took a deep breath to calm down. Even though she wanted to punch that reporter on the face but she didnt want to mess up Neil's interview. Neil has so far handled it so well and now it was her turn too to share her thoughts honestly.

"Yes, I have forgiven him because in our break up he was not the only one who was at fault. I was equally at fault. Yes I was busy taking care of my sister and I didnt have time for any other thing while he was getting ruined because of his addiction and he has been involved in many flings but the ultimate truth is he has only loved me and I have only loved him. We had broken up so it was not like he had cheated me but still I was hurt....very hurt. But then what we do in our life, what we become is ultimately our choice. He senses were captured by addiction and he was not himself, the Neil I know was lost somewhere. Then he made a choice and became that old Neil just for me. And I made my choice and chose to forgive him, for love, for him and for myself. I chose present over past and I am proud of my choice. The allegations you are talking about. I dont believe in any of it. Even in his lowest, darkest phase, I know Neil would have never been involved in any kind of physical violence with any woman. All of those are just talking shit. They dont have any proof. Whoever given those statements, must have done it for cheap publicity. I know my Neil and I stand with him." Mini said as she held Neil's hand in hers and entwined their fingers.

Neil was proud to hear Mini's trust in him. He pressed her hand in his hold to express his gratitude. Press was blown over by confident replies of couple. Their love, chemistry was very visible to everyone. After that nobody dared to ask any personal question to them.

"Any comments on other ex band members of Hurricane? They have also put many allegations on you and claimed that most of the hit songs of band were their brain child not yours but still you used to steal their limelight.?" Another question was asked.

"A hit album or song is always the result of team efforts. Yes, I used to throw lots of tantrums, might have even grabbed all the limelight and may be this is what pushed them away but I never committed any of those things they have accused me of. I was always honest towards my music. On this day, from this platform I apologize for my mistakes or hurtful things I might have said and I wish them all the best for future." Neil tried to end to this unnecessary cold war between other band members and him.

"So when we will be listening new song from you?" finally some professional question was asked.

Neil went cold for some time. He never expected the kind of positive treatment he would be getting. He was prepared to answer all sorts of questions related to his life but he didnt know people would still be interested in his music. He didnt think about it ever since that incident. He didnt know how to feel about it. He didnt know how to answer the question.

Mini realized Neil becoming nervous. His hold on her hand loosened and he was visibly uncomfortable. Though she didnt get it why Neil would think so much about a normal question but she decided to handle it herself.

"Very soon. Neil is working on his new song. Very soon it will be released." Mini answered on his behalf and Neil looked at her in shock as he was not working on any song. Mini blinked her eyes in assurance to communicate that everything is under control and there is no need to panic and Neil started calming down for now, trusting Mini.

The press conference was over and at evening Neil along with Mini, Mickey and Arya sat in the living room to read/listen to the media reports/news/articles about it. The interview was huge hit. Crossed millions of views wherever it was uploaded or telecasted. There lakhs of comments flowing in from all directions. Comments included mention of Mini also. Mini felt as if she has also become overnight celebrity or something.

"A story which has everything in it, love, romance, pain, drugs, stardom, fights, misunderstandings etc. every ingredient of a hit movie, you name it and interview has it. Rock star Neil Oberoi's interview has stirred up new debate everywhere." tv reporter said on one channel.

" A broken man, an addict can he be absolve of all his misdeeds or not. People trust him anymore or not. Or is it another drama to get publicity. Choice lies with people but whoever present there moved to tears on hearing his life story." Tv anchor said in one news program.

"Do wee put lots of pressure on celebs? Dont they have right to be sad or emotional sometimes?" There was a poll to vote for.

"Mental problems, addiction, insecurities...how celebs deal with it and yet are expected to always smile for their fans. Neil Oberoi's interview as changed the perspective. celebs are also human, they should not be idolize like Gods." An article quoted.

"Neil Oberoi's interview: Honest answers or cheap gimmick?" another article was titled.

Social media was flooding with the interview clips. Though some people still has to say negative things about him but maximum people felt his emotions were true and he just cant be banned from society for being brutally honest or suffering from emotional outburst. At least he showed the courage to accept his faults. No celebrity has ever did that. And together with the positive comments and good media coverage Neil Oberoi again became the talk of the town with most people already willing to move past that stage incident and willing to give him another chance. Together with it, Neil's confidence returned too. He was hopeful again.

He looked at Mini who was already looking at him, smiling and blowing flying kiss at him. But he went up to her and hugged her as he couldnt hold up his happiness.

Thanks I used my own experience watching such controversial celebs interview😆 we all have done it. We know how it is and how some celebs break down into tears also.
