I am guessing the separation might be due to Virat rejecting the surrogacy idea and eventually he has to give in to make peace with his wife . Separation cannot happen before surrogacy. If separation happens why would he think of a baby . If baby is all that matters to him then he would have jumped at the surrogacy idea .

Because that kid was of him too. You can't expect him to give lectures on moving on, when he can't himself move on. He wanted a child for a long time, not after remarriage even way before in Diwali times, when Sai didn't even think of that phase, he wanted their baby from that time. And when the hope is lost finally, he couldn't cope up. Many people have different mechanism for coping up with a pain. If it was miscarriage only he would have coped up easily. But it's also losing the hope too. You may find him selfish, self-absorbed, self-centred but that's how some people do behave to cope up!! You can't compare one's pain with other's.
