Part 18: A fairytale wedding
As the stand facing each other, their families around them, Devika hands the varmala to Anu and Bunty to Anuj..
Samar:" So pehle varmala kon pehenayega?"
Anuj:" Anu..tum pehena do ..."
Mukku:" Are bhaii..aapko varmala se bachna hota hai...jhukna mat!!!"
Anuj kneels down on one knee..
Anuj:" Ab jiske saamne puri zindagi sar jhukana chahta hu uske saamne aaj jhukne me kaise problem haan? Aur waise bhi...main kyu bachu varmaala se..mujhe toh jaldi se meri Anu se shaadi karni hai"
Bunty:" Kya yaar tu bhi.. college ke time se itna hi boring hai"
Devika:" Chod na yaar..inn dono boring logo ki jaldi jaldi shaadi karwaao aur inhe jaane do kich interesting kaam karne"
And she winks at Anu..who glares at her and blushes..
She smiles at Anuj, places the garland around his neck, and slightly brushes her palms on his shoulder, like she had on Christmas eve...and held his hand to pull him up..
It was Anuj's turn now..
Bhavesh:" Anu.. tu bilkul mat jhukna"
Anu:" Inke prem ke saamne toh kismat ne bhi sar jhuka diya..main kaise na jhukaun.. inki patni banna mera saubhagya hoga"
And she looked at Anuj with all the love and devotion she had for him, and bowed her head, as he made her wear the garland..
Everyone clapped and cheered for them..
As they sat down..
The pandit chanted mantras and instructed them to complete some rituals..
Priest:" Kanyadaan ke liye aage aiye"
Anuj:" Panditji..hum kanyadaan aur bidaai ki rasame nahi karenge.. humaare khayal se ladki koi saamaan nahi hai, jisse aap daan kar sake..aur bidaai ki rasam ke baad humesha sirf ladki ko apna ghar chod kar jaana padta hai agar woh na chahe toh bhi.. aur uske gharwaale usse paraya samajhne lagte hain..isiliye hum ye nahi karenge.."
Priest:" Dulha dulhan ka gathbandhan kijiye"
The kids and Mukku came forward and did the gathbandhan..
Priest:" Phero ke liye khade hojaiye"
They took the four pheras holding hands, promising each other to stay together in each phase of life...
They sat down again..Anuj helping Anu with her lehenga..
Priest: "Ab aap inhe mangalsutra pehenaiye"
Anuj took the nuptial chain from Mukku, it had a diamond pendant with two As engraved in a heart.. he leaned closer and tied it around her neck, and whispered
Anuj:" Anu, I love you"
Anu smiled wider at his words, and his hot breath caressing her face.. she whispered back
Anu:" I love you too"
And Anuj winked at her..
Pandit :" Ab inki maang me sindoor bhariye"
Devika came forward and lifted her maangtika, as Anu closed her eyes, savouring the moment when he filled the parting of her hair with sindoor, and her life with love... as she opened her eyes, she couldn't stop her tears.. she was so fortunate to have a husband like him..who loved her so much...
Anuj wiped her tears, and gestured the sindoor that had fallen on her nose, indicating a loving and blissful married life..
And he gently kissed her forehead.. and she blushed.. she loved the haq he was showing on her today.. she was his, and none of them were afraid of showing it to the world! She blushed even more..thinking about how he would show his haq on her, now that she was his wife...
Priest:" Shaadi sampann hui, aap dono pati patni hue"
They both looked at each other with happy tears..and got up, as Anupama hugged him tight...
Everyone showered them with flower petals...and they went to Anu's mom, GK, Bapuji and Mamaji and touched their feet.. they all hugged them, and blessed them with a long and happy married life...
Bunty, Devika, Mukku, Bhavesh, Sanjay, Dolly, Samar, Kinjal, Toshu, Pakhi, Meenu all of them hugged and congratulated the couple..
The couple did their first aarti together in the temple.. and asked Kanhaji to stay with them forever, and guide them through their new journey..
They now had to go back to the lawn for the photography session and food..
Anuj lifted Anu in his arms..
Anu:" Anooj...ye aap kya kar rahe hain"
Anuj:" Apni BIWI ko le jaa raha hu"
His wife...HIS WIFE...he still felt it was all a dream...
Anuj:" Anu...mujhe ye sab sapne jaisa lag raha hai.. please pinch me"
Anu smiled..and pinched his cheek...
Anu:" Bau cute chokro che" and blushed..
Anuj's face lit up even more, if that was possible...
Devika:" Anuj...aaj raatko tere room me light ki zarurat nahi padegi na?"
Anuj:" Devika tu kya bol rahi hai??"
Bunty:" Arre sahi toh keh rahi hai..tu toh bulb se bhi zyada chamak raha hai na"
Anuj:"Aaj mukammal hogaya
Ek khwaab tha jo undekha sa
Jee raha tha barso se par
Par zindagi me mera mehboob na tha
Aaj humaari qurbat me hain woh
Toh lag raha hai khwaab sa
Yakeen dilaya humaari mehbooba ne
Tab yakeen aaya, warna hume toh yakeen par bhi yakeen na tha"
Anu:" Aadhi umar beet gayi
Par kabhi aisa prem na paya
Ye saubhagya hai mera ya hai Kanhaji ka aashirvaad
Ki humdum mera meri zindagi me laut aaya "
Bunty:" Arre wah Anu bhabhi..iske saath reh kar aap bhi on the spot shayri karne lagi hain!"
Anuj (bragging proudly):" Biwi kiski hai"
He held her tighter.. as she blushed..
Anu:" Aapki"
Mukku:" Are bass karo yaar bhai...shaadi ko 2 min hue nahi aur meri biwi meri biwi kehkar brag kar rahe ho..meri bhi toh bhabhi haina.."
Bunty:" Oye...meri nahi humaari"
Devika:" Chup karo yaar sab..Anuj...teri kamar tut jaayegi kab se Anu ko uthakar khada hai...chalo neeche ab!!"
They descended the stairs of the temple.. Anuj still carrying Anu...as they reached down, and he placed her down, brushing his lips against her cheek... making her cheeks become redder than her lehenga...they both started searching for their shoes..
Anu:" Ye meri sandal kaha gayi?"
Anuj:" Mere shoes bhi nahi hai!"
Devika:" Arre Anuj ke shoes toh maine baccho ke saath milkar chupaaye the.. Anu ke sandals kaha gaye??"
Bunty:" Har cheez me equality honi chahiye na.. toh joote sirf dulhe ke kyu chori ho.. toh maine aur Mukku ne Anu bhabhi ke sandals chupa diye hain"
Pakhi:" Anuj papa, agar joote chahiye toh hum paancho ko latest iphone laakar dena hoga"
Bunty:" Koi zarurat nahi hai darling... humaare paas extra joote hain!!"
And he brought the extra shoes which he had kept, and helped Anuj wear them..
Mukku:" Ab humaare gift ki baari.. Maa.. hume ye gift aapse chahiye"
Anu's mom:" Mujhse...bolo na beta"
Anuj:" Maa.. main batata hu..par aap vada kijiye aap mana nahi karengi..."
She promised, and he continued..
Anuj:" Maa..hum chahte hain ki aap humaare saath shift ho jaiye.. humne waise bhi humaare baaju waala flat le liye hai.. toh humaare ghar ke 4 bedrooms - ek mera aur Anu ka, ek GK ka, ek Mukku ka aur ek guestroom..
Aur uss ghar me me ek room aapke liye, baaki rooms Bhavesh aur baccho ke liye..
Devika bhi aati rahegi na..
Bhavesh bhi toh Ahemdabad sirf weekends pe aata hai..aur bacche weekends me humaare saath rehne waale...
Aap akele rehte ho..aur Anu ko miss bhi karte ho..aur Anu bhi aapko bohot miss karti hai.. toh ab aap please humaare saath shift hojaiye"
Anu's mom:" Par..main kaise..."
Anuj:" Aap apni beti aur apne bete ke saath kyu nahi rahengi maa"
Mukku:" Maa..ab toh main bhi aapki beti hu na... aapke 3 bacche hain uss ghar me..please aaiye na"
Bunty:" Aur aunty.. main bhi ab Ahemdabad shift ho raha hu..toh main bhi aata rahunga"
Everyone was overjoyed to hear this!!
Devika :" Aunty pleaseeee haan bol dijiye na... maine dekha hai Anu aapko kitna miss karti hai"
Bhavesh:" Maa.. haan keh de na.. Anu aur mujhe humesha teri chinta hoti rehti hai"
Anu's mom:" Theek hai..aa jaungi"
Anu, Anuj and Mukku hugged her...
Anu looked at Anuj lovingly, crying..and was about to say something
Anuj:" Thanks mat kehna Anu...ye meri bhi maa hai...aur main..inka favourite hu..haina maa"
And everyone laughed through their tears..
Mukku and Bunty returned the sandals...and Anuj went down on his knees..helping Anu wear the sandals..as they both relived their Cindrella moment..that was the beginning of a beautiful journey..and this was like unlocking a new level in the game of life...
Anuj:" Woh humesha humaari zindagi thi
Par anjaan the uske liye hum tab
Hume laga jeena mukammal hua humaara
Dil se kaha usne dost jab
Par kismat ka khel bhi ajeeb hai
Pata hi nahi chala hume, ki unhe hua humse ishq kab
Unhone apne aap ko radhika, aur hume kanhaji hone ka MaAn diya
Humaare naam ka sindoor aur mangalsutra, sajta hai unke jism par ab
Khwaab me bhi na socha tha ki kabhi main woh meri patni aur main unka pati kehelaunga
Par hun main uska shehzaada , aur hai woh meri shehzaadi ab"

(I didn't want them to perform the rituals of Kanyadaan and Bidaai as I feel they're very patriarchal and should be stopped. This is my pov and it isn't against any religion! Sorry if anyone felt hurt by it!)
