I don't know why you're even explaining. It's not worth it. What was done was not in good faith. It was willful misrepresentation in order to drag the topic into a completely different direction. These kind of irritants should just be ignored.

Agreed. I find it quite disturbing when India bans or censors content for "hurting religious sentiments." I even go as far as supporting the likes of Charlie Hebdo in their parody and satire. If someone's faith is weak enough to be shaken by the figment of someone's imagination or their sense of humor - then perhaps they need to strengthen their faith rather than eliminate those that critique it.

But Qatar, Kuwait, and Oman - none of them are any bastions of freedom, democracy, or secularism. Neither do they claim to be. They are very openly Islamic states. So them banning or questioning is not surprising nor is it news. Even when China and Russia censor things - we all know they are police states.

It would be worth mentioning and concern if a nation that claims to be democratic, free, and separating church and state would ban and censor media.

The topic is about censorship, not human rights.

Since they call themselves an Islamic nation, they can base laws on their faith and censor based on their faith. But laws that allow pelting, lashing, and other inhumane punishments under the guise of "religious laws" are a problem. I shouldn't have to spell that out.

The real fattus are the leadership in western nation that do not have the courage to hold these nations accountable for human rights violations. It's all about oil and the military-industrial complex.

As for me, once upon a time, there was a thread titled "RTH motherf****** sick b*****" once on IF because I criticized a religious figure. I've earned my stripes. 😆
