Chapter 4

Part 1

Imlie met with her & Malini's father at a restaurant. Her father was shocked at what Imlie had just asked him to do. It was first time she was willingly acknowledging him as her father & had asked for something.

"Don't worry, beta. I'll arrange for the best divorce lawyer." Her father said.

"I'll need the flat keys, you bought for me." Imlie said.

Her father smiled at her. "Yes, of course. It's in your name and I have fully furnished it. Just call me if you need anything"

Imlie left the restaurant and went to shop for new clothes. She wanted to treat herself.

This was the calm before the storm. She'll make Aditya Kumar Tripathi pay, literally.

It was the day of the result announcement. Imlie joined the zoom meeting from her college computer lab. Along with her, her professor also was present. The one who had always encouraged her.

AKT's old boss was giving a speech overviewing the whole selection process & congratulating the shortlisted participants. He listed the students selected. Only 5 participants were selected including Imlie & they had to report to Bhaskar times the next week on Monday.

Imlie went back to Tripathi's. Her father was also there along with the lawyer he had hired for her & a crying Malini who was busy trying to gain sympathy from her father & Tripathi's.

She also saw Aditya Kumar Tripathi with lawyer who was busy negotiating with her lawyer about the alimony. It seemed that Tripathi's & Aditya Kumar Tripathi wanted an out of court settlement.

She went to her lawyer & asked to add one time settlement for 10Cr or equivalent assets for her alimony clause on the divorce papers. She had initially planned to ask for an annual sum but Imlie didn't want to deal with Aditya Kumar Tripathi longer than she had to.

This shocked everyone present. They began complaining how Imlie was only interested in money. Imlie went back to her room without answering the questions they bombarded her with.

AKTs lawyer began negotiating with her lawyer. Imlie informed her lawyer to register a mental harassment case against the Tripathi's & Malini. She then provided her lawyers with video & audio recordings she had secretly recorded on her smartphone including the latest scandal regarding Malini & Aditya Kumar Tripathi.

The Tripathi's were arrested along with Malini. Imlie didn't just stop there, she wrote a story and was about to submit to AKTs new boss when her lawyer called saying the Tripathi's agreed to the alimony. She didn't want to publish this story in the newspaper but wanted to weaken his position further in Bhaskar Times.

Oh well, at least she was divorced now. She received few lakhs in cash & the few of the properties Tripathi's had owned. Her lawyers evaluated the amount of these properties & estimated it to be roughly 10Cr.

She shifted to the 3BHK flat she now owned.

Chapter 4

Part 2

Just as promised, Imlie made shuddh desi ghee ke ladoo. This was the first thing she made at her home. She visited Sita Maiyyaas temple & offered the ladoos to the priest rest she distributed to the kids playing outside.

Just as she was leaving she saw a lady who was older than Imlie, she was searching for her phone. She seemed to have dropped it somewhere.

Imlie went to her and asked her what had happened. The lady told her that she was searching for her phone which she must have misplaced when she was buying Pooja ki thali. Imlie asked her for her number and called her on her phone. Luckily, the phone was still switched on, they tried to hear the ringtone. Finally, the lady heard the ringtone. She had left her phone at the shop she had bought pooja ki thali from.

The shopkeeper returned her phone. The lady thanked Imlie for helping her.

"Humara naam Arpita hai. Tumhara?"

"Hum Imlie"

Next day, Imlie left early for Bhaskar Times. The office was she had imagined it to be. She saw Aditya Kumar Tripathi's desk. After the arrival of AKTs new boss, Aditya Kumar Tripathi’s office was given to his boss and he was assigned a desk which he shared with another reporter.

Just then, Imlie heard someone walking in, she looked up from Aditya Kumar Tripathi's desk.

She saw a glimpse of AKT's new boss as he walked past her to his cabin. The effect he had on his staff, just a glimpse and everyone present went straight to work.

Not looking, AKT's new boss ordered for coffee. The office boy standing there, rushed to get his coffee.

"Aryan Singh Rathore" Imlie whispered reading his nameplate.

Imlie went straight for the kill, is it? 😆 Divorce, alimony, mental harassment as well as property. Though it's a complete character flip, the help from her biological father keeps it realistic, so nice touch there.

Fixed the chapter, had to remove one scene. I’ll rewrite and update the chapter soon

Tripathi’s & AKT agreed so quickly because they know things had escalated between AKT & Malini. And, if they didn’t marry soon, they would face badnaami especially Malini.

if they had time, they would have never have agreed for alimony.

Honestly I love this Imlie, she can be cold & calculative when she wants to be. And she treats a person how they treat her. She’s not an emotional fool & doesn’t believe in tyaag & isn’t self sacrificing.

Originally, it was a single chapter- No parts. But I was getting spam content not allowed error. So, broke the chapter to identify where the issue was
