Some of you'll should visit special needs schools and therapy centres in Mumbai.
10th and 12th pass vernacular medium students are hired as aides by therapists and trustees.
The schools take a min of 6000 to max of 40,000 from parents and the staff is a mix of aides and professionals.
The industry is unorganised and these so aides exhibit inhumane behaviour which is conveniently shoved under the carpet by the authorities.
Unfortunately in some verticals neither passion nor qualification is required.
I did a little reseach about Music Therapy in the US) you can start working in the Music Therpay field with just a Bachelors if you went to a school that has an accredited Music Therapy program (the program includes clinical work with a hospital) and thus after graduation you are certified. However, you are qualified to work in a team in a supportive role in the Music Therapy field. For Akshu to actually run a Department she would need a Masters or Graduate degree and of course work experience. So technically Harshvardhan taunt about qualifications was somewhat true. But Akshu’s response was also true to what she knows about charitibale hospitals. They may take fresh just out of school Music Therapist to work there but won't be having them run a department.
Its not uncommon sometimes for employers to hire candidates that may not meet all the qualifications as things like attitude and ability to display willingness to learn, and a passion for the work can help sway the interview to your advantage. But of course each field is different.
Are you from the medicial field?
Author. I think you just need good content.
You are absolutely right. I am so fed up of Akshara's constant gyaan baatna aani Abhi blindly supporting her.

Yes, exactly. But Akshara isn't applying for the job of an aide. She's applying for the job of a music therapist which needs the training prior to doing the job!

That's interesting. In India in general, the job of a therapist is given usually only when the candidate completes post graduation, along with accumulating a certain minimum number of experience hours. Till then, they would only be able to assist other therapists.
Yes, I agree that ability to learn on the job is used in many instances during job interviews. But I don't think that holds true for therapist work.
Music therapy courses are offered by private institutes not recognised by Indian Medical Council or Universities in India.
Any arts, commerce, science major with an inclination for music can apply. They should have sound knowledge about musical instruments and a certain commitment to serve the differently abled population.
A singer can also become a therapist. What matters is experience and patience to deal and handle patients.
Many Speech and language pathologists, remedial education teachers and OTists go abroad to learn certain customised programs developed by certified professionals for medical purposes. Yes the institutes offering such courses won't entertain graduates.
I can also become one based on my experience.
