Kalank was also a slightly-changed-to-avoid-legal-trouble adaptation of a novel by an Indian-American author, Shauna Singh Baldwin. Heck, even the characters' names were the same.
Adi Chopra and Karan Johar are rich. Why do they steal? Because it is thievery, plain and simple. Pay the the writers and buy the damn rights. Don't steal from working stiffs to feed your already overfed selves.
Because they are actually somewhat mediocre nepo products with few good original ideas of their own themselves, which is likely why they are obsessed with promoting actors who fall in that same category too.
