Imo the issue is not about him arresting Sai or protecting Shruti.
The issue is that a Naxalite evaded any punishment and got away scot free. But an innocent person is in custody and he lacks the desperation to get her out. Makers are showing him make tall claims of being there for her, believing in her but he hasn't even talked to Sai yet to get a full account of everything.
Today Sai is extremely vulnerable - torn between guilt over patients death her career threatened, the anger, helplessness and sadness to see her fathers murderer walking free and threatening to ruin her life, shes physically exhausted- almost at 40 hours without sleep thanks to 24 hour shift... and YET he has allowed pp and bk to spew venom with barely any interruption and a pathetic comeback. Yet when Shruti had allegations leveled against her he was exceedingly fierce in his comebacks. He interrupted them, asked them to shut up. Jab ek stranger ke liye itnaa kiya toh apne biwi ke liya uss se 100 guna zyaada hona chahiye na...
This is the same man who defied them all to say I'll take her name as part of mine. He calls himself Virat Sai Chavan...toh jab vahaan bk n pp are saying crap, why such a thanda response.
Why is he so dismissive of jaggu simply brushing it away as a ghatiya man..Why is there no desperation or anxiety to make sure jaggu doesn't sabotage investigation.
If he broke all the rules to shield Shruti even violating a direct order from DIG, then how come he is not using his position to now expedite Sai's release. getting bail same day got postponed to next day. Despite being innocent she's having to stay the night in custody and he hasnt show any urgency in getting things done.
Makers forget these tings in V's characterization and thats why V as a character comes across as SO ridiculous.

Shruti was a headache. Atleast they don't try showing Pakhi as bechari as much as they did for Shruti which was in KD too so yea but RK's character had many graphs throughout the show. Pakhi is one dimensional vicious character.

True. I'll never understand why the writers write him this way for the so-called love of his life. Bhai romance ke age bhi kuch hota hai 🤷
The Shruthi track was changed midway and this was confirmed by the actor who played Sada initially . I guess because of that there was so many inconsistencies in the story . I think they had planned this track differently but in the end they chickened out and copied KD . Shruthi and Sada were shown so much in love and unlike KD shruthi here supported Sada’s ideologies and she was his mentor’s daughter and so her sudden change was hard to digest . Initial Sada had a sensitive side to him whereas Sada played by Vineet was ruthless . It felt like they wanted to end the track asap .Originally posted by: sherry_24
I agree to your version. But I'm not levelling up this against V. It wasn't a comparison on all grounds. And most importantly we are still not on clear grounds on SH's involvement. She was supposed to lead the gang after Sada's death and suddenly she is cleared of any involvement towards the end of the track. There were so many blotches in the treatment and execution of SH's character. So from what I could read after the entire track was that V knew about SH's innocence (which was not revealed to us in the beginning) and with her vulnerable situation, he wanted to protect her to honour the promise to Sada. So in both cases he is aware of the innocence.
Like I mentioned for Virat it was a shock, he wasn't prepared for it. had he known before he went to the hospital he would have done something to avoid the arrest. In SH's case he is had the time to plan the escape.
All I wanted to say that same word duty was used in dubious way in both tracks. Virat referring to his helplessness as he was bound by duty while arresting Sai, and V accepting that he was going against law and his duty calls for protecting Sai. My comparison is not of tracks in entirety, but it was more around the usage of the word duty. This is like viewing it from a limited angle. That is why it is a perception and not a perspective. There is definitely the bigger picture which you have spoken about.
V knew of Shrutis involvement in naxalite activities. He knew DIG said she was wanted for questioning. He violated a direct order to arrest her and Sadas gang. Nowhere did they tell is Shruti was innocent. Even DIG says V was wrong but his "intentions" were not so he was "forgiven". Shruti got away with rehabilitation and ZERO punishment because she was made out to be "victim of circumstances", vulnerable due to her health and new found mother status with newborn and also the fact that she had "realization of her faults for being an exteemist".
Overall in this show every wrongdoer including V gets away with minimal to no punishment, but Sai is the one who always pays the price.
The point is not that he was caught offguard by Sai's involvement or forced to arrest her- the point is that how come he is suddenly all so upright, not bending any rules, all so trusting of the system, all so calm and collected....its his wife who is in trouble and he simply lacks the desperation to not just get her out on bail but clear her of ALL charges including negligence.
I'll comment on this in 2 parts combining both your comments. Because I'm there with you on it mostly, but I do have a different take as well. Exclude the acting bit because that again creates complexity in perspectives.
1. In Sai's case I believe if he had any prior indication he would have worked out something to avoid her arrest. It was the element of surprise that got him. While in SH's case he had time to think through. SH involvement in Sada's activity is a grey topic. It had contradicting versions throughout the track. The difference here wrt V's response can be credited to the stakes. In SH's case it was her pregnancy, her vulnerable state. And while V was risking his career, for SH it was a do or die situation. Either they get away from getting caught which she would have anyways if V didn’t jump in or escapes. Might as well take that chance at it.
But in Sai's case, it is not just his career, it is Sai's career, her dreams and reputation at stake. Here he is trying to ensure that she gets out unscathed. Any out of line action from his end runs the risk of jeopardising all that for her. With Jagtap's involvement he is even more concerned, because now their actions are being watched for a slip to be levelled against them. Hence, he was restraining himself from going all out at Jagtap. They already have an allegation that V will use his position to bail out his wife. So he has to be careful there for Sai's sake.
2. One of my biggest complaints is V's inability and weak stand against his family when they insult Sai. I wouldn’t say he hasn’t done anything for her or to protect her interests. But most of the times his tone and words are short of conviction. He doesn’t appear that strong in her defence. His approach may change while supporting Sai and SH in front of his family. Not because what they mean to him but what each of them mean to his family. For SH he doesn’t really need to ensure a long lasting, cordial relationship with his family. But he wants a happy and heathy relationship between Sai and his family. So every time he fights them it riles up the family and he thinks that trying to persuade them is a better approach. That is fine. But instances that I cant agree with are the one from today, where BK and P were taunting and accusing her and he barely had a retort in her support. There was nothing to lose and he was well aware of her mental state, her vulnerable situation. She was quiet and taking it all, and he had to be her voice there. These are situations where I fail to see him worthy. He is too dismissive towards the name callings and harassment of Sai.
They copied Shruti track from KD scene by scene word by word alongwith their creativity for Virat Shruti scenes which didn't exist in the original. There was no deviation from KD. They even lifted that cringe dialogue of Shruti telling Virat that he's the father, it's their kid anyway or Virat walking with Sahaas in his arms accompanying Shruti in hospital Sai Pulkit watching them. Yes they had to create new dialogues for their creative scenes for Virat Shruti other than that pretty much whole track was copy pasted. The divorce episode was bit different. Even Sai telling Virat the baby looks like you was copy pasted lol.
Remakes are very tricky. Because it is not simple plot lines, there are layers and elements to it. The language, cultural setup, audience, everything matters.
When an OG is written/created, it is done with a thought process, a mindset, a vision, a flow, a sequence with a progression to character and storyline and with the target audience for consumption in mind. The backdrop is created accordingly and the treatment of issues and plot is based on the audience and the times that the are living in.
While everything is evolving, tastes, perspectives, mindsets, thinking all are changing. So when shows/movies are remade, they have to be mindful of these and incorporate changes to the plot accordingly. Also if the pattern around the sequence, the understanding of the sequence is not considered it loses the essence. The entire show loses the plot for lack of continuity, progression and flow. It looks like a disjointed attempt.
Example - When you hear a joke in the OG language and try to translate it in another language you may not evoke the same or equivalent reaction as the OG. Hera Pheri is a remake of a south indian movie. I had watched the OG and had a laughing fit, but I just couldn’t connect with Hera Pheri despite being more comfortable with Hindi as a language.
He couldn’t have avoided Sai’s arrest or the charges against her. She will have to go through the legal route. But the issue is HIS body language, desperation, drive to get Sai out that needs to be shown and the intention to prevent his family from insulting her when she is already so vulnerable and exhausted. That’s where makers fail time and time again.
Also He had little planning even in Shruti’s case. He just kept lying and never revaluating his choices. And that’s the other big flaw of V. Zero introspection.
