Chapter 4

“Congratulations on your engagement with Aarohi”, said Akshara

The realization hit Abhimanyu hard …today he was getting engaged with Aarohi...well it didn’t happen due to the kidnapping fiasco but…

He glanced at her and left without uttering a single word

The moment he stepped out of her room all his self-control was lost and tears started forming in his eyes. His alliance is fixed with the girl who is the younger sister of the one person he loved. Destiny played a cruel game. He was never ready to move on from Akshara but his family forced him to settle and today on the day when he was supposed to get engaged she is back. Back for good?

Akshara’s congratulation pierced his heart.

He was clueless, he can’t leave Aarohi, he accepted even if it was a forced one but he will never leave a girl for his selfish reason.

Later in the evening at Birla's house

Neil didn't eat anything and he had an injury on his head which no one noticed they were busy with Siya, trying to cheer her up.

He was heartbroken already and the incident shooked him to the core what if he wasn't outside and didn't see the kidnappers.
He went to the kitchen for drinking water.

Abhimanyu was restless he had so many questions he was overwhelmed to see her after years but destiny had different plans it seems coz he was going to get married to her sister.
He wanted fresh air so he decided to go out on the lawn

While passing the living room he heard a few sounds one was of glass breaking followed by a thud sound of someone falling.
He ran to the kitchen to check and saw Neil lying unconscious.
He tried waking him up but it was of no use so he called out for help Manjiri and Parth came running followed by Nishtha.
They took him to the room and Abhimanyu checked him and saw an injury on his head
He felt guilty for not checking Neil when he came back with Siya.

Few Hours Later

Arohi was calling Neil but he was asleep due to medication so she called Nishtha and she narrated to her what happened in the evening.
Aarohi got worried and took the car keys when akshu enquired "Kahan jaa rahi hai?" She hastily replied, "Birla house Neil ki tabiyat thik nahi hai."
Akshu joked "hmm hmm Sasural walon ki fikar devar ji bimar pad gaye toh dekhne chali…. kal mehendi aur sangeet hai na"
She replied "Jaldi ajaungi ...jane to de Akshu"
Akshu again teased her "You love your Doctor a lot" and she chuckled to hide her pain
Akshara's words hit Aarohi

She was talking to herself while heading to the car "Devar Ji, bimar but Neil is my best friend I care for him and love Abhi?? Ummm no"
She reached Birla's house and ran to Neil's room to meet him.

Abhi was sitting beside Neil when he saw Neil's phone which flashed on receiving a new notification.
He took the phone to put it on charging but something caught his attention

His wallpaper.

It was Aarohi's smiling candid picture

He knew they were best friends but he could have put a picture of both of them but it's a single picture
He saw Neil's face... His eye bags and dark circles were visible.

The gate flew open and Aarohi was standing there breathing heavily as if she ran kilometers to reach there.

She entered and saw Neil's bandaged head, and dull face she felt some kind of pain but not the one we have for friends...she wanted to take all his pain away.
Abhi tried reading her emotions through her face and what he read on her face was more than enough to know the unsaid feeling they have for each other.
He broke the silence "Mene medicine de di hai aur beech main Thoda juice bhi diya tha he will be fine."

She hmmed in response.

Abhi questioned again " Akshara ko stitches laga diye?"

Aarohi was too busy staring at Neil that she didn't focus on his question.

He increased his pitch and came again

This time she replied "mmmm Nahi Akshara was not ready to get stitches she forced me to put on a simple bandage"

He hmmed in response.

Abhi wanted to confirm her feelings so he said "It's getting late you should leave your family will get worried for you" and waited for her to react.
She gave a blank look at Abhimanyu, she wanted to stay but alas she didn't have any reason and what Akshara said made her realize what is happening in her life.

She respected Abhimanyu and adored him but as a mentor... But was that enough for them to start a life together something was missing... What if it was Dr. Abhimanyu in place of Neil... She would have reacted the same? Did she really like him or it was just because Mimi wanted it to happen?
She silently took leave not before taking a long glance at Neil.
That night was a long one for Abhimanyu and Aarohi.

They have a lot to contemplate about their lives. A single wrong decision can mess up many things.

The two other souls were in deep slumber due to medication.
