She looked at the mirror and took a minute to admire herself. Her daughters had worked really hard and she loved the final look so much. It had been awesome to finally let herself be pampered fro a change. She fondly carressed the choli admiring the details of the floral pattern on it. She was proud that every bit of what she was wearing was handpicked by him. She colored up as the realization that he had picked her too from a million others struck her. Smiling at herself in the mirror, she gently adjusted her earrings when her eyes fell on the beautiful bangles that once sat on the hands of her beloved mother in law. Anuj had told her how much his mother had wanted her as his bride and how disappointed she had been when she came to know that he had been late. She had never met her but from whatever little she had heard from Mukku, Anuj and GK, she knew that her mother in law was no ordinary person. A wave of sadness swept over her... if only she had met her once.... she clicked her tongue... why did destiny have to play such cruel games? She got up from her chair and moved to her cupboard, she opened it and found the box which had been gifted to her by Anuj soon after they had met. The ghungroo... she had never mentioned to Anuj how much the gift had meant to her. In the beginning, she had just worn it because she had felt good and confident while dancing... but then when she learnt more about his mother in her conversations with GK, Mukku and Anuj, the ghungroo had started to become an integral part of her. She had purposefully worn it every time she had felt herself at the crossroads of life. There had been days when she had worn the ghungroo to bed just because she felt at perfect peace with it. When she wore the ghungroo she had always felt strong enough to fight the world. Today, as she looked at it, she realized that without it, she would be incomplete. The ghungroo... His mother's dream... How could it not be a part or her wedding? She tied it around her feet, caressed it softly and whispered 'Thank you, Ma' looking up at the sky. A gentle breeze caressed her and she shut her eyes believing it to be her blessings.
Another random musing after seeing the ghungroo scene... I loved it... It was one of the best❤️
