O P Nayyar is considered to be one of the most rhythmic and melodious music directors of the Hindi film industry.
He never changed his rules for anyone nor confirmed to contemporary trends of composing music for any of his producers. Having been stubborn, he did create his niche. Today, the same is considered a genre, a special type! His niche was not only timeless melodies, but also the innovations that he did in Rhythm. One of O.P.Nayyar’s most memorable and hit compositions. Itsrhythm build up consisted of Bongos, Dholak, Chinese Blocks, Contra Bass andTambourine. Considering the trend of those times, this was indeed a brilliantexperiment.

This simplyexplains that how was O.P.Nayyar’s thought process as a composer. His lateralthinking and innovative approach to minutest part of composition made him trulya great composer.
Lata worked with the greatest of Indian composers and musicdirectors, yet, there was a music director who remained aloof from Lataji. Withhaughty pride -- and yet he rose to the top echelons of the music industry --the incomparable O.P. Nayyar.
"I found Lata's voice too thin, too shrill, which didnot suit my compositions," Nayyar had once said, claiming he was "theonly music director who succeeded in Bollywood without Lata's voice".
During the film 'Aasmaan' in 1952, OP Nayyar decided to makea song for his co-actress and wanted Lata Mangeshkar to sing for a side actressand not the main lead. Lata ji did not like this proposal. Since she was arenowned singer, she did not want to sing for a co-actress instead of lead.Lata Mangeshkar refused to sing. This pricked OP Nayyar and he announced at thesame time that he would not make any song with Lata Mangeshkar.
Lata Mangeshkar sang in 36 languages and worked with thebest Indian composers and music directors.
