Great point!
Hi all,
New user here. Followed the forum for sometime and like how the discussions are mature, healthy and more in depth then most other places.
Imo, the role was a small one was known to her, Rajamouli has clearly stated that length was small but it was connecting point in the story.
after baahubali and kgf Kjo was smart to realise the potential of these makers/movies and wanted to give her a headstart into these and got her in. It was a win-win as the makers got a star who was familiar with the Hindi audience. But I think the acclaim she got with Gangu and the critcial/commercial response that jr ntr and ram charan got with her being teased for the short role got to her. She is used to getting everything on a platter courtesy Kjo which can only go some distance and didnt work this time. His proteges might bend to accomodate her, filmmakers of stature will only go the distance which benefits them.
I agree that finally her tragedy will be that she is a great actress but it will always be tainted by the easy path, it will never be the sweat, blood and tears success which resonates with the audience of a SRK, Sridevi or Amitabh.
also, another great point, once you are a "performance oriented" actress, you will not find a part in the big hero films. Of course, one may argue that they are useless, but a lot of them are huge commerical successes and you need that too which is why actresses like Madhuri, Sridevi, Aishwarya and down south Nayantara, Samantha and Anushka try to balance both. But Aalia is also limited by her personality and looks where taking on true blue commercial large than life roles don't work for her
