Dont get me wrong if I bring KD. But the way the characters are written there are very real. Like we all have moments where we fall low and situations where we rise high. Basically we are good human beings but situations might bring our worst too.
Sai, for example is the whitest character. Her intentions and actions are almost correct.
Virat is the next best. He is one who falters a bit but eventually moves towards the truth and right. He rises to the situations mostly.
Samrat is a good guy, but he is not mahan like Sai or Virat. He is limited. He falters more. He buckles under stress. He cannot make tough decisions. He is incapable of making decisions for others. But he is a nice man, he understands. He is a middle guy.
Pakhi is selfish and now turned vile and apathetic. so no point discussing about her.
While Virat/Sai think bigger, Samrat thinks limited. Given the situations he will respond. Both brothers have fallen for Pakhi. Pakhi as a character is breathtakingly beautiful. So no wonder both fell. While for both of them it could be attraction/infatuation, Virat has mental strength to pull him out of the situation. Also Sai helped him moved on quickly. While looks wise, he fell for Pakhi, his values are aligned with Sai. And he had a special connection with her due to his relationshop with his Guru. All this made him come out of Pakhi easily.
Samrat, on the other hand though it might have been attraction, the feeling that she would be his wife might have strengthed his feelings for her. It might not be a pure emotion as Virat has for Sai. But it is stronger than attraction. And it is not easy to get out of a marriage. I think he is stuck there.
Also, falling out of love/relationship and finding another one is an emotionally taxing process anyways, so people try to adjust.
May be Samrat is also struggling with this confusion. He thinks Virat completely moving on, might give their relationship a chance. It shows that he is committed to this relationship. If there is a role reversal, we always applaud woman for bringing back her husband to her :D.
However, there should be a limit. And Pakhi has hit that limit now. She is blatantly hurting him. No consideration at all to his feelings, which should make him think whether she will ever love him! If he has any doubts there, he should move out.
I know people dont like samrat making moves physically with Pakhi. But I have another argument. They are legally married couple where physical relationship is expected. So if he tries to see if she is comfortable to start their relation that way there is nothing wrong in my opinion. He is not forcing himself on her. If she asks him to stop, then he should not proceed. Which she never says directly. She leads him on with her manipulations and so he tries. To have desire for your legally wedded wife is not immoral. Sammy should be excused of this blame. :) But when she takes Virat's name during their interactions, he should take it as an insult to him and their relationship and confront her. This is where Sammy has to buckle up. He should not let her manipulate him.
I was also disappointed with his behavior during Sruthi kand. First he could not be a strong support to his cousin and later repeated the same with Sai. Thats why I said, he is not a strong personality like Virat/Sai who has ability to think beyond themselves and the situations. They both take responsibility and show interest in understanding the situation. Samrat sways, when he thought Virat hurt Sai, he took Sai's side. When he saw virat on death bed, his guilt kicked in and completely abandoned Sai. He lacks perspective. He is limited. He is Samrat as his name suggests (emperor) not Virat (all encompassing). The names are chosen for a reason. 👍🏼
Sorry I went too much into details. I am like this when it comes to KD characters. I like them too much.
