I mean in india and asia why they think 40 or 45 is old and mock women if they wear nice dress

Especially for women after 35 or 40 they wear salwar outside or in functions they are mocked by family and society that its not appropriate for age

We can forget jeans and pant of midi and skirts etc for women over 40

While men can wear like 20 year olds even in 70s with jacket and t shirts and jeans etc

Why this dress sexism exist?

In abroad at 80 also women wear pant shirt skirt midis gowns etc

But here after 30 or 35 you wear that and women are mocked and objected too

Even in metro colleges women teachers and lecturers should only wear sarees

Only IT companies are a bit relaxed on age of woman and dressing

Why should anupama not wear pant and shirt or midi s while going out with anuj on dates or gowns at functions?

Like how Malvika and devika do modern dressing

I want to see anupama in a gown in wedding function or pant shirt while going out

Well its us youngsters who must break this dress taboo and buy our moms and grand moms modern dresses and encourage them to wear it and not feel ashamed

Anuj kapadia buy a gown for anupama as gift please to break this dress ageism

Mukkudi buy anu a pant and top as gift for wedding or birthday

That also is a taboo breaking act to wear modern dresses becausec when anu was in 90s it was not vogue may be to wear gowns midis and pant shirt for girls and women

So let her wear in 40s and 60s so what? Break the society taboo on women dressing

When anuj or any man can wear half pant at 70s or 80s and any jacket etc colorful clothing why not women too wear pant shirt gowns and midis in 40s or 60s - this is also society mindset issue

Samar and pakhi should have already gifted these dresses to anu when she was married long back in 30s but not too late kapadia clan please gift anu modern dresses

Change mindset of women dressing

I am sure many women love wearing modern clothes but scared what husband think in laws think parents think society think etc

Hmm..I think the taboo is not just about wearing modern dresses at the age of 40's or 60's it's also about wearing Indian dresses at the age of 20's.

I have seen so many people tagging a young girl as bhenji or aunty who likes wearing kurtis, salwar kameez or even sarees instead of wearing dresses and trousers.

Just like we must have seen many women not wearing modern dresses after marriage because of societal pressure.

According to me clothes should be neat, clean and comfortable, not to just follow a fashion trend just because others are.

And one should wear what one loves,be it only modern dresses,be it only traditional or be it a combo of both. Because clothes don't define your mindset, your thoughts do.

Yes but when our moms and aunts were young it was not vogue to wear pant shirt or midis in college or school times its only traditional dressing

So they can wear them now if they want too. Many want to but scared what relatives say neighbours say in laws say hubby say etc time to break that taboo

Why society and in laws have issue?

Thats my point

See a girl wearing salwar out of her will in school or college is different

From a 40s and 60s woman wearing modern dress of her liking

If girl is harassed on roads they blame dressing style but thats different thing

I am talking of ageism in dressing that above 35 or 40 cannot wear pant shirt or gowns or top skirt completely different from your point

Yes it is very annoying but unfortunately its very common in society. Not just in dresses but if older woman do loud makeup then also she is made fun of about it.

So basically society judges women for each and every thing. If she wears indian dress then she is behenji, if she wears modern dress then is asanskari etc.

Yeh to society mein hamesha se hota aaya hai. Yes but new generation can break these stereotypes.

well said 👌👌

Many women don't wear traditional dresses bcoz of in-laws and all. It looks so elegant and graceful and they love it.

Dresses should be according to their choice, their comfort.

Yes,yes,I understood your point completely and i completely agreed with it,but I just added another point to it,that a women's clothing is always criticized in some way or the other.

Why i am saying this is educated women in metros wear modern western dress

but when they go to native or in laws place they wear saree and pallu on head to please family

but in city they wear midi and pant shirts or skirts etc

Why behave diff n in law and native place and diff in city places

they lead dual lives i think one to please in laws and parents at native one at work place or city

why force people to hide and act what they are not in reality

what is this fear or pressure that makes them wear what they never wear in city they live in native place or in front of family

There is a difference between wearing dress for comfort and 24 by 7 by 365 wearing same dress with zero variety.

If women were free to chose, no matter how much they love traditional at least SOMETIMES they will wear something different

I am in my 20's and I always wear kurtis or tunics with leggings, unfortunately I am not much of an explorer in clothes nor do I like clothes shopping much being a girl,be it in modern wear or even traditional wear like sarees or salwar kameez, except maybe on certain festivals where you are required to be a little more decked up, so I might wear a lehanga or so or in college where there is a certain dress code to be followed like coat, trousers and a shirt or during night pajamas.

My parents or people around me have never judged for what I wear, instead they have always encouraged me to explore or maybe better my wardrobe but I like what I wear😛

But what I wear daily is my personal choice and that's how it should ideally be.

Just to fit in a certain image or to make yourself look good for others eyes should not be the deciding factor on what one should wear and what one should not.

So,they I am sure there are ample amount of women who wish to sometimes or many times wear variety, there might be a few who might not really care much or give too much of thought on their clothes.

So,it's all about personal choice.

May be personal choice for you

But not for 80% women in india

They dress up as per their family or society wishes

Sadly women themselves not ready to accept it forced in name of maryada age and what will others say etc

When mothers grand mothers and aunts and even girls not ready to accept dress code is forced on them

Like anupama all have accepted what is forced on them as their choice
