Multi isn’t that bad of a variation or mispronunciation Americans can do to her name. The first things that popped into my head was Malt Liquor, specially in her teenage years if she likes partying. I knew someone named Ophelia who started going by Faye as a young adult because people would always say “Oh I Feel Ya”. Kids, and adults, can be very cruel and immature. At the same time if Malti Jonas goes to school with other celebrity kids she’ll have a lot of schoolmates with unique names and her name might not even stand out that much.
I don’t like the name for no other reason other than I don’t like it. But I also don’t subscribe to the believe that every name has to be easy to pronounce or understand for the average white person.
It's not about White or Black. All Americans are going to pronounce it as 'multi'. And having your name mocked is not a pleasing experience.
Also, to me, the name sounds quite gawar types. Conjures up images of a girl with two chotis dunked in coconut oil. Marie, although old-fashioned, is still better.
