All promotional stuff are released with the lead star's approval. It's there in every leading actor's contract since they are the face of the film. And Karan is literally Alia's second father and Ayan a close friend so they are more of a family than just director- producer. Toh aur kya approval chahiye? Alia Ranbir doesn't have to officially announce their wedding for people to believe it's happening. I mean photos of wedding preparations are on for a week now so why should the couple officially announce? Everybody knows they are getting married, this was just a simple wish from the team of a film that both Alia and Ranbir having given 4-5 years I think. Even Anushka and Virat hasn't announced their wedding officially until the release of photographs but their Manyavar ad being played everywhere just two months before the wedding was confirmation enough they were getting married. Even Bhansali Productions released unseen BTS pictures of Ranveer and Deepika from Ram Leela during their marriage. Everyone does it. It's nothing new.

Virat and Anushka did an ad two months before getting married. And Bhansali released something from a movie released 4-5 years prior to Deepika and Ranveer’s wedding. Neither of these actions came across as the wedding being used as a promotional tactic. But that’s exactly what’s happening here. This wedding is being used as a promotional tactic to release a song teaser.

The best friend and the father figure could have used numerous other ways to congratulate the two. They could have used some candid vidoes or pictures and it would have come across as sincere and cute. But to specifically use their upcoming high budget movie to congratulate them is just tacky. But since the bride and groom are OK with it then why should KJo and Ayan worry. Doesn’t change the fact that it’s just tacky and sad and makes the situation ripe for all sorts of speculations and trolling.
