That's what even I have noticed. The criteria for the views is, No.1 ofcourse is the label/channel and the number of subscribers it has. Then No. 2, how good the song is - meaning, how much it appeals to the general public. Artists themselves and their fans contribute very little in number of views.Originally posted by: Realityshow
The myth of fans and YT views.
It was my understanding, based on no facts, that a high IG fan following and widespread promotion by those with a large fan base lead to healthy YT views in the initial days. Views after 3-4 days are largely dependent on the general public and attention by dedicated fan bases.
There are many recent YT uploads by singers with large fan bases. The impact of fans on the views for these uploads is hard to identify as, often, the channel uploading the video plays a part. A channel with a large subscriber base does generate some assured views.
To illustrate my topic I was waiting for an obvious extreme example. That came by way of my favourite person - Neeraj Kalkar 🤣.
Neeraj and his wife joined forces to launch a YT channel called "Songmeitpro". They roped in some of talents of the recently concluded SRGMP2021-22, (namely Neelanjana, Rajarshi, Sachin, Ananya and Singdhajit) to launch their initial offering - "Do Aakhar Ka Naam - Ram" yesterday, to mark Ramnavami.
In 24 hours this song has garnered 2,100 views.
The singers have a combined IG following of nearly 1M fans.
The song was promoted by Sayli, and a host of others close to Neeraj Kalkar, aside from the singers themselves.
Songmeitpro has gathered 139 subscribers till date.
Net net - there is only a tenuous link between fan following and YT views for most. Though some have fans who really make an effort to support their favourite.
