I read in an article that RK will play Dhritarastra in BT's Mahabharat...After seeing the messing up of the K serials I am not looking forward to her Mahabharat, I will stick to BR Chopra or will not mind Chandraprakash Diwedi's Mahabharat....

Anyway what I wanted to say RK will be a miscast as Dhritarastra, not that he will do a bad job because he is a fabulous actor but for the following reasons.

1) RK's best feature are his eyes, as a man he as got beautiful eyes and he emotes with those eyes...

2) He is far more talented as an actor and according to me in his generation one of the most talented one in Indian Television, he should be given a more challenging role rather than a meek spineless father

3) He has been playing a man beyond his age for quite sometime, it will be a change to see him playing his age or near his age

According to me he should be playing the role of 'Karna' inspite of being Kunti's son he got a raw deal, being a good person he had to side the bad because he wanted revenge. Inspite of being a great warrior, far superior than Arjun, he was defeated by Arjun with the help of Krishna....last but not the least both Aamir Khan (I have watched his interview) and Sharukh Khan wants to play Karna....RK is no less talented...I think he should play it or Krishna, cunning and lovable....your thought friends, love Tin

Hai Tiny,

Strongly agree with U....RK would have been better off playing Karna or even like ashwathama or some one who actually enters the battle field...his role is just acting blind and listening to what Sanjaya has to say 😕 😕 ...they could have given him a more challenging role 😳

Well the only plus point is he won't die 😉

RK would have been best choice for KArna. But then again after looking at what mess Kasam Se has become we know how Ekta's mind works. In spite of praising him as best actor RK was ignored in BT's gold awards. same goes for casting for MAhabharat.

Ekta is wasting Ram's talent.

Maybe its because of time constraint. He is playing the lead in KS, he comes in almost every episode and has more than one scene. His role is as big if not bigger than Bani's role. If he does get a bigger role in Mahabarath, then at this crucial stage in KS, with a new Bani, there might be more of body-doubles and less of Ram. KS can't afford this, at this juncture.

I think that its not the role, but the way an actor plays the role that makes it different, special. Even if the role is of a blind, weak king, it still needs an actor to potray the role convincingly. I'm sure that Ram will do well!!

Hey guys,
I think there are only three main protagonists in MAHABHARATA which where the main reason for the war to happen.

Shakuni – the person who actual plotted the sketch, whose only aim was to destroy both the kauravas and pandavas.

Dhritarashtra – the person who desired for the war to happen; for his own selfish reasons. He was so full of inferiority complex and vanity that he wanted to achieve what he couldn't through his son.

Krishna – the person who metamorphosed the desires of shakuni and dhrutarashtra and was the actual SAARATHI. But he allowed things to happen in such a way that in the last truth only prevailed.

And I am glad ram is playing the character of dhrutarashtra, because I don't think any other balaji actor at least has the guts to even touch it. Only ram can bring in that conviction and somebody rightly wrote that his eyes emote the most, he doesn't require dialogues, but without his eyes he will be handicapped and this is a real challenge.

And I must admit that ekta has an eye for talent, in 99% cases she picks up right actors for certain roles.
And MAHABHARATA is as vast as an ocean. It contains everything and anything. One will find any damn thing in it right from politics, administration, jealousy, bisexuality, love, principles, values, passion, extra marital affairs, premarital s*x, betrayal, polygamy et al…. the list is endless.

Recently I read the synopsis of the book "THE PREGNANT KING" and was surprised to know that it is a story from the Mahabharata where some king accidentally drinks a magic potion meant for his wife and he becomes pregnant and conceives a child [sex change operation probably] and his wife rules the kingdom. The book questions the rights of women and sexual preferences etc.

So, I mean Mahabharata has various perceptions, according to some a certain event was right while according some others the same thing was wrong.
It depends which perception ekta chooses. That choice will make all the difference.

Well I can only wish all the best to her and her team.

God bless
Dhani

P.S.: I sincerely hope that ekta doesn't mess up my favorite epic.

i disagree that Dhrutatashtra is main character in MAhbharata. There are others like Bhisma, Ajun, Karna, Krishna, Yudhishhtir, Duryodhan, dushashasan, shkuni & not to forget female characters too. In fact I think one version which i don't think I follwed it regularly all I remember is Dhrutharashtra with dumb looks keeps asking what's going on 7 Gandhari had more role than him. He looked like a dumb spineless characterdoing nothing than sitting on the throne. His sons did all the talking. 😕

RAm will change it & make even that memorable. But what waste of powerfull eyes.

Well Rani and Dhani,

First, I never doubted RK's talent, I am sure he will do good justice, secondly Karna though an important character his presence in the screen will be less than Dhritarashtra, as Dhritarastra is always present, sitting and hearing, Karna will come and go, with RK's JW role I think Karna's schedule will suit more...and Dhani I like your Postscript, like you I also hope Ekta won't mess it up!! You have rightly said Mahabharata deals with so many issues which are relevant even today...infact it can be very closest to ones' life and of course where sexuality is also dealt, and surprisingly you will find that in the days of Mahabharata people were more respectful to women, women had more freedom to choose and sexual disparity was less than today....last but not the least unlike today, the bad were punished, revenges were taken and taken in time 😆 😆 (No pun intended towards KS 😉 )

More Mahabharat stuff... Good on you tinytiny! 😛

There are definitely quite a few downsides to the role of Dhritarastra - most have been mentioned over here anyway. The main thing is that Dhritarastra was a loser in many ways - he failed miserably in his duties as a king.

Whilst many of the people in the Mahabharat were full of faults, Dhritarashtra's spineless acts tend to stand out like a sore thumb. For that reason I have to admit that it was kinda shocking at first to learn that a popular actor like Mr Ram Kapoor had been given that role.

As for the role of Karna, I do agree that it's a fantastic role - my second favourite after Bhishma Pitamah.

tinytiny has rightly suggested that Karna did indeed have a valid claim to being superior to Arjun. It's been stated in the texts that he was only one of 3 warriors that had the ability to succeed against Arjun - Bhishma Pitamah and Aarcharya Drona were the other two (but unlike Bhishma Pitamah, he was actually willing to use his immense skills to attempt to kill Arjun).

On top of that, it took multiple levels of cheating to finally defeat Karna in battle. War aside, Karna was a man of amazing principle also - only 2 events act as dirt on his character (his insult of Draupadi, and his part in the killing of Abhimanyu).

However, I have to also say that I honestly don't believe that Mr Ram Kapoor is in a position to be able to take that role at this very moment in time - ************ That's why I kept suggesting roles such as Aarcharya Drona instead - a powerful role 😊

*************

If there was another year to go before the show started, then maybe it would have been possible 👍🏼

God bless.

For good roles, people like Sharukh/Aamir or Amitabh even train, I am sure as an dedicated actor, Rk will also do the same if the role demands it, I don't know if Hiten is playing Karna or not but as a great warrior he is too thin whereas RK is naturally broad, only he has to make his body more tonned up....which I don't think is impossible...

Dissing actors about weight/appearance and ugliness is not allowed on the forum.

Go duke it out some where else..

Mods, please close this topic if this gets out of hand!
