Oscar awards declared today. I found two similarities with B'wood.

1. CODA - child of deaf adult. This has same subject as of hindi film Khamoshi the musical.

2. Will smith who played king richards - the role of richard williams, father of venus and serena williams , how he made them world tennis championns - this role is same as Aamir Khan's role in Dangal as father of phogat sisters.

CODA and khamoshi plots are completely different and King Richard, obviously a poor father's struggle to make his daughters tennis champs, same as Dangal. Everyone knows the Williams sisters inspiring story.

I recently saw the movie "Burnt Alive" recently released. I love horror movies, and I was expecting a lot from this movie. But it turned out to be very bad. Not interesting at all. The plot is not clear and fuzzy.

Turning Red

I found the Red Panda as a metaphor for menstruation a bit laborious and stretched. Some online comments, both positive and negative, made it feel like periods were central to the movie.

It is more of a cute coming-of-age story for me. There comes a time during puberty when almost everyone experiences a schism with their parents and wants to rebel. We experience crushes and want to act on them, which may be forbidden in our family, culture, or society. Our parents, whom we once looked up to, now seem dated and uncool. Our tastes in music, movies, and books change to conform to what our friends think is "in." Kids precariously balance family expectations with their developing identity.

Turning Red explores it from the perspective of a Chinese-Canadian girl who is torn between her mother's high expectations and her friend circle. The Red Panda may be a metaphor for the rebellious nature of puberty.

It's not one of Pixar's best-animated features. But it's still sweet, fun, and enjoyable. It's the central Red Panda that seemed clunkily developed to me - and I can see why people may criticize the film for it. But I am baffled by those who call it unrelatable. Sure - if you take it literally it's unrelatable - I didn't want to doodle and dream about boy crushes or obsess over some boy band. But I had my own share of rebellions. Are there really people who never rebelled and disappointed their parents?

I mean you know very well why people are finding it un-relatable.

What are your favourite horror films? I love the genre but I’ve ran out of movies to watch.

Sharmaji Namkeen is a gem of a little movie. Nothing out of the world. But just what the doctor ordered for my recent movie slump. There's something wonderful about how the two actors are handling the same character. Rishi Kapoor's Sharmaji has a cuddliness and adorable peevishness while Paresh Ravel's Sharmaji is more sarcastic with a wee bit of misanthrope thrown in. And Juhi is equally lovely. How she holds on to her cheerfulness and kindness despite the tragedy in her past.

The Kitty party aunties ranging from 30s to 50s are a hoot.Love their chutzpah and 'go-to-hell' attitude to their husbands and family who look down on their parties. Many of them had career aspirations when they were younger which they set aside for their family. Now that the kids have grown up, they have time on their hands and money. What else can they do? Not everyone finds happiness in NGOs and social service.
