Ok, posting a small bit here. A larger update follows soon as fast as I can complete it.

The reason being I wanted to entire courtroom scene in a single chapter. But try what I may, that's the climax of this write up and just cannot be wrapped up in one chapter.

Police safehouse, undisclosed location, Nagpur

It was late that night that Jyoti finally left the safehouse, leaving behind a very disturbed inmate and an equally baffled detective.

Sai watched the govt vehicle backup the drive and then vanish on the dusty highway. What all was communicated and discussed here.. Jyoti was here to convey the Govt’s perspective in her case. The police dept would file the case and the DM’s office would support in whatever way they could. The custody of the girls rescued was with the DCW, which was represented by Ms Singh.

The door opened and Sai sensed rather than heard Rudrama behind her.

“Nice person to talk to…” Sai remarked casually.

“Dr Ma’am, I was about to get some coffee. Would you like some?”

“Fine, get me a mug..” She had beginning to like Rudrama, whose disguising ability was formidable. Nobody at Nirmala Niwas could have even guessed her identity.

“That Ma’am who came visiting today...is an officer from the DM’s office. In fact she has worked along with ACP Sir day and night for this case. Then the week before the raid happened, ACP Sa’ab took her for dinner!”

“So nice..” Sai had trouble keeping her face straight. Inwardly she was feeling bothered. Jyoti’s face had undergone a drastic change while describing Virat. Expressions had become more tender, eyes had softened…Was something brewing in between them? Rudrama’s next words more or less confirmed it. “Nobody knows much about Virat Sir’s personal life. There are plenty of rumours. His wife deserting him, he walking out of his palatial house and staying in the police qtrs…I sometimes wonder about that vile woman. How could she..” Rudrama fumed at the unknown woman. “Did she love him in the first instance?” Sai walked to the barred window. Would anyone ever know the truth? “Anyway, he deserves a second chance at life. We can have hopes. If Jyoti Ma’am is willing…”

Jyoti Singh was at that time lost in thought. Dr Sai Joshi had shattered all her set prototypes about a witness for prosecution. She had not expected this: a thin woman, almost a girl, but with a clear vision and a straight stance. She had clearly understood what was required of her, and then asked certain specific questions that pointed towards a formidable intellectual capacity. In short she was someone who was willing to take on the world.

No wonder Virat Chavan was on the top of the world. This was a strong witness who would stand the riggers of courtroom trial and then ask for more. But there was something else. Virat’s eyes had smiled for the first time…was it something that was purely professional? Or was she seeing something else?

Her thoughts were interrupted by a ping on her mobile. It was a message from Virat. The FIR has been lodged. Now for a legal battle ahead. A copy of the FIR sent to you.

Congratulations! I just met Dr Sai Joshi. A strong woman. She tapped out a reply.

Good night! Who would know her better than me? Virat smiled bitterly and logged off.

It had been a day well spent.

Court ka scene likhne main time lagta hain yaar...I have never written a court scene so far. Wrote it twice and then deleted it. It didnt look right.

Jyoti has no idea Sai kaun hain Virat ki..Rudrama obviously wont know.

Ashwini ka bhanda phod...zaroorat nahi padegi. Someone else will do it for her.
