I think looks help, but the characterization of Anuj has been great too. I mean honestly there lot of ITV actors that are great looking but not enjoying the same level of fandom. Why because in ITV people relate more to the characters?

Hence, even if Anuj was not the best looking the fandom would have been huge. GK's acting skills also add the additional sparkle.
