Punjab Kings will take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the third game of IPL 2022 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai.

Both teams are yet to win an IPL trophy despite being part of the tournament since the inaugural edition, and will be hoping to break the jinx this year. Punjab, in particular, have not made it to the playoffs for a long time now.

They have named Mayank Agarwal as their new captain for this edition, along with some excellent additions to the squad.

On the other hand, the Royal Challengers Bangalore picked up Faf du Plessis from the marquee list and named him as the skipper of the franchise.

They will not have the services of AB de Villiers, who has retired from all forms of cricket but still have the likes of Glenn Maxwell and former skipper Virat Kohli. Moreover, they have added Dinesh Karthik to the squad as well to give the finishing touch.

However, Kohli will always remain the talisman of the franchise and RCB will want him to have a fantastic season.

Faf du Plessis is all set to lead the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise in the upcoming season and he will have a big role to play at the top of the order. The right-hander finished second in the race for the orange cap last year but will be playing for a different team this time and a lot will rest on his shoulders. The 37-year-old has the ability to play match-winning knocks and can be very destructive in the middle overs as well.

Mohammad Siraj had a pretty good IPL season last year and he has been using the new ball to his advantage in the powerplay. He was retained ahead of the mega auction this year and the right-arm seamer can also hit the yorkers in the back end of the innings along with his wicket-taking abilities. He is likely to lead the bowling attack in the absence of Josh Hazlewood. Not to forget, he has been riding high on confidence in the last two years.
