@ bold - OMG I just remembered the sound when a fork scratches against a plate and now my ear hurts.
I've heard about the slurping thing in Japan too! I am not as bothered by slurping unless it's very intense. If it's too loud and slurpy sounding, then I do not want to hear it. Not at the dining table, not at a restaurant, not in a bedroom. NO WHERE.
