I especially remember that song she sang for the lady from Rajasthan. I would never have heard it twice, but for Arunita. Somehow she made that song grow with me.

I have a nearly 2.5 hours playlist of songs that I hadn't heard before I heard it being sung by either Arunita or PD. It really drives my wife crazy that it took Indian Idol for me to get to appreciating those songs 😃

Likewise, this is what i find amazing with Aru. It’s easy to like a song when Aru delivers it. There were many songs throughout her journey from Zee Bangla SRGMP to IIL 12 which I have never heard, which I now love to listen to in Aru’s euphonic voice. It’s no wonder the amount of love her renditions on youtube get surpasses everyone else. People come back to listen to her all the time. I feel in many songs she has replaced the original singer in terms of owning the song.

She has also made me a big fan of all her Bangla songs, a language I don’t understand. I feel those songs when she sings it. Her Ghatal renditions are for the ages.

Some weeks back, right after the launch of Dekha Tujhe Toh Lagaa, my wife was surfing something on YouTube, and then entire song Dekha Tujhe Toh Lagaa came up as one of those pre-video ads! At first she thought it will a few seconds promo but the whole song played out!

Looking at the activity in the last 2-3 weeks, it seems to me that she has finally started taking promotion seriously, and has probably sought help too. May not be a big agency, but somebody with a little bit of savviness about social media, captioning, choice of posts, etc. If that is true, then that is a really welcome move.
